MAKfalcon (MAK): At BS with DEC biologist Jenny Landry. The scrape has been boarded up and no eggs were found. P&DC vocalizing and circling

 Sad  Oh well!

Did the DEC board up the windows are did the private owners?  When did this happen?
What will happen now to Doc and Pigott, but what will happen to Beauty if they now invade downtown?

Margaret - I suspect the DEC has been in discussion with the owners. It is an unprotected building meaning humans can gain illegal access.  It is a dangerous site inside and out, with much debris including broken windows and glass. The owners and building maintenance are trying to maintain security and routinely block entrances to keep intruders out. The location where the falcons were frequenting & where watchers thought to be a scrape was not a good situation for eggs or eyases. I assume it was boarded up this morning for the safety of the birds.

P&DC will get along fine, they are still mating and may find a better location or they may not have a successful nest site this year. As for DT...we watch and see.

Kudos to those teams of veterinarians and volunteers who brought the 6 back to health for release. It gave me chills watching them.

As I look at this profile, I can hardly remember how bad this side of Beauty's head looked when she returned a year ago.  She has healed well.

Great catch Ei! I think DC is letting B know that he is ready for a clutch.

For many a year Orville sat by the scrape,
Along came Orion to help him escape;
Down to the ground he fledged with a whack,
Poor Orville in pieces is not coming back.

Not a big deal but Rochester is spelled wrong under dot.ca.  Love the Orville entry, but we need more information.  Why can't he be rehabilitated?  Are there pics?

Thanks-fixed. You get bug eyed with this after a while LOL!

I think Carol knows more about Orville's condition than anyone. Hopefully she'll chime in

Orion was the first juvie (that I remember) who actually picked up Orville and carried him. Through the years Orville got shoved in a corner many times and buried under leftovers, but Orville was never taken out of the nestbox, except for the move from Kodak to Times Square. As much as we would love to see Orville rehabilitated, he ended up like Humpty Dumpty, and a replacement would never be the same. Plus in this age of legalities, a new Orville would be a liability. Sad, but true.

And I will breathe easier once we get past Easter as there seems to always be some sort of drama attached to that holiday around here!  pray

And...Mariah heart spinning was our first Easter tragedy. Ever since, more watchers have been out on Easter Sunday. Superstitious?  I'll breathe easier too.

DC bows

Beauty bows back

He was presenting prey in the first shot. She was eating in the 2nd.

Once they both bow and echup inside the nestbox - that will close the deal.

Glad y'all enjoyed the album.  I was lucky to capture so many pics in a row in focus...especially since it was early evening and gray skies.

This is the best way I can share with everyone, since I wasn't blessed with the story-telling talent of our daily reporters MAK and Carol P. With all the time that goes into watching, texting, picture taking, driving, uploading, reporting, and sharing...it's amazing anyone gets enough sleep. LOL
