WOW Joyce, it sure looks like him!! I'll bet it was him in the nest with B on the 17th. Was that him swooping too and was his female in tow Pigott?? I have no clue but sounds just like last year. A repeat! Amazing, these falcons!  Shocked

I bet it was DC in the nest box too. The behavior sure fits him...stooping on Beauty.  I wonder if it was Pigott too. Interesting because when Brain Mak, Kathy and I saw three in the sky on the 18th, none of the falcons were the same size. One was large, the 2nd mid-size, and the 3rd definitley a tiercel.

Donna & Ei...It is so much fun being a falcon sleuth!

I think I can help.  This evening I was able to upload my pics from last night to a computer.  Here is one that clearly shows the b/b (black) Canadian band.  The bottom letter is clearly Y and you can see the 3 slightly above. If you go into my Picasa album you can zoom it easy and I think you will agree.

Dot.Ca is back!

Possible scenario right now - Intruder may not be DC because he is not appearing at BS that we know of. I believe this aggressive behavior is another male chasing resident male from the territory because it is the best Rochester nest site.

Beauty is not fickle when she bonds with a mate, plus she has copulated with UT and her number one priority is her scrape for laying eggs. Until she feels UT will not return, I doubt she will consider bonding with this new m
If it is DC, she will likely join with him based on her instinct to reproduce, but she won't give up her nestbox.

Do you mean another male chasing resident female or male chasing UT out?

Right now I consider UT the resident male since B has bonded & copulated with him.

Ahh, OK-I was confused!  Looks like the resident male has been chased out or worse since no signs of him since yesterday.  Poor Beauty has never had an easy time since she landed in Rochester-good thing she's so strong and committed!

Beauty has certainly earned my respect in these changing times for Peregrines.

Bobbie - Wish I was an expert, but all I do is study and compare. Trying to learn as much as I can, but it is still hard to say who's who at this time of year, especially in person.

UT? Don't quite see a band.

Yes this looks like UT. He has a small part white part of his auricular patch that is vertical. I try to visualize it as thumbs up. His malar strip is wide as in the pics.

After the way they behaved last year, I often wonder how they would greet each other in 2013.

I think it may be a Canadian bird probably banded same year or similar location, unless DC was the only male with the letter Y.

LOTS of */Y...Kendal and I would guess all his same year brothers...all of Rhea Mae's boys 2009 & 2010...Linn's 2011 boys...and those are just the ones I have on the family tree...

Phooey...I wish we had the rest of the band ID. It may be one of the eyases that some of the Rochester watchers got to see at banding time.

You're right Carly it is difficult to see. I'm only using my cell phone cuz I don't have access to a computer right now. There are other slight differences that may be due to the posture as well - the chest does not have that pure white look of DC, and the markings with the auricular patch don't look identical.

I guess what I'm saying is I'm not convinced yet. Y may be a common bottom letter just like V was used in Rochester & Syracuse for a couple years. I think it may be a Canadian bird probably banded same year or similar location, unless DC was the only male with the letter Y.

After checking the markings, in my opinion this is not Dot.ca. This tiercel does not have the distinctive white above the cere.

Beauty's stature does not look welcoming. Did anyone see bowing on video cam?

Joyce, you think then D is there Mar 12,13 14?

Joyce knows her mustache's!  2thumbsup

Sage - there are no distinctive markings for me to make a positive ID. The pic with the falcon on perch has the head blocked. In others, I saw smudge, and it is hard to tell a front head view without seeing cere. He would have to be looking down. He could be puffed up with the return of the cold windy temps.

Now I have the time to help and physically can't get there. I'm bummed!

In Sage's album, pic 8 of 16 taken on Mon 3/11 is definitely Diamante in the nestbox. Note the solid white chest with no intruding marks, large heart-shaped white auricular patch with no smudge, narrow mustache (malar stripe), and Mariah's look-alike white above cere.

In more recent pics of falcon with side view, I see a smudge above auricular patch. Difficult to see other markings.

For comparison of Diamante & Gleig markings, you can check out my 2012 CT falcon watch album at picasaweb.google.com/wnyfalconfan

Beauty is in NB (shadow) and tiercel on wall.  Are there bands or not?  Zoomed in, too hard to tell.

Looks like a Hawk-Cooper's?

K, was my first thought!

That's definitely not a pefa.  Not sure if Coop or RTH.  Yesterday I had a Coop flying in the area and headed past TSB towards jail tower and west out of sight. This looks
