Joyce, Mark was probably happy he didn't have to rescue you guys from pipes or air conditioning And didn't he once have to rescued on that boat? I think so. Can you imagine trying to explain to Customs why we were getting a boat ride home?

Thanks everyone for your concerns about our ordeal in Canada.
I feel bad that we missed out on our Saturday falcon watches, and poor MAK & Bruce having to hang out like that all day. Prior to coming to Toronto, Carol, Kathy, Lisa and Dana had signed up to to join in the Sheraton Centre watch on Saturday after seeing Stormin'. MAK and I thought we would check out Etobicoke Sun Life, since we heard the 3 eyases at that site are ready to fledge too. We were glad we did because Carly was the only one on watch. Unfortunately, our watch ended too soon.
Carly contacted Bruce Massey while I was exchanging information with the other driver. The driver of the other car, was kind enough to tell us about the Collision Center, but we waited for Bruce. Neither MAK, Carly, or myself had a cell phone. While waiting for Bruce, we went back to falcon watching with Carly. What a perfect thing to distract the mind for a few minutes. She gave us support, keeping us company, and took us inside the Sun Life building. Credit card pay phones - pretty unique and we could call home. Wonderful man...Bruce! Stayed with us throughout the whole day. Bruce offered his CAA card to call a towing company. He made telephone connections for us to let our fellow falcon watchers know we were OK.
We sure did learn a lot about the way they handle accidents in Toronto. Never heard of a Collision Center, but it is a convenient way to handle fender benders. There are 3 centers for the entire metropolitan area. The front half of the collision center handles all of the details, then the back half is like a police station. The tow truck driver wasn't aware that I had a 4-wheel drive, so he couldn't tow it. He didn't have a flat bed, and I'm not sure if he had dollies. When I drove my car, it was definitely out of alignment. My steering wheel had to be held to the left to get the car to go straight. Immediately upon viewing my car, the policeman said "not drivable."
The CPF people are a fantastic group. Mark was out-of-town, but he was in touch with Bruce to get status updates. He even offered us a boat ride across the lake if we couldn't find any way to get home. LOL!
Thanks to our Canadian friends for all your help and support.

I'll let you know how it goes! I just kind of hope that none of the eyases decides to suddenly become a fledgling tomorrow, rain and all..., although Harry has years of experience! Linda Woods thinks Friday at the earliest. And she really is an expert at such things!
Anne in Toronto
Anne - you'll do fine! I'll never forget Jeanne's and my first fledge watch together. We were newbees and signed up at the same time with no experienced watchers with us. We each had a carrier, a spray bottle, a light shirt or blanket, a notepad, our binoculars and our walkie talkies. We were fully prepared and petrified that one would fledge on our watch! Have fun! ~Joyce

Rochester Falcons / Rochester Falcon Discussion / Re: Eggs or No Eggs at KP! That is the Question!

bev -
We're fairly certain that the two eggs Unity originally laid at Kodak Park (KP) are not viable. We aren't certain what caused the abandonment of the eggs. At this point in time, we haven't yet confirmed with insiders at KP if the eggs are still in the scrape or have been removed. We are able to see a falcon at the scrape, but we cannot actually see the scrape.
This is Unity's first time with a mate, and anything could have happened. Watchers were not able to keep an eye on this site on a regular basis so we aren't sure if Unity stopped incubating the eggs because this is her first time, or if it was caused by the realization that her mate had another female, or because of the battle Unity had with Beauty. Possibly all of the above.
With all of the copulation that has been going on between Unity and Archer, and little activity with Beauty, we suspect there may be a second clutch at KP. At least we are hoping.
Joyce
P.S. So glad your favorite gal is back in your sights on a regular basis. I remember how heart broken you were after the battle. Glad to hear E4 was found as well. Amazing how we stay addicted through all of the hardships we see...and still come back for more. Nothing like it, is there?

@Margaret - Linn was 2007
@bev. - Hi! I was going to respond to a comment you made on BCAW, but never got around to it. Are you still active with the U of Alberta falcons? Are you still seeing your transmitter girl? I didn't see anything about hatchlings on the website. You're too funny - still calling Kaver...Kyver. Is that the Canadian spelling? LOL!
@Carly - Thanks for all the input. I see the Toronto Residential (one of Jack's locations) lost an eyas. How sad. Could it be because Jack was at the other sight and the female may not have been close by?
