Does anyone know if Rochester is doing fireworks this year? I can point the cameras at the show.
Yes. 9:50 to 10:15 p.m. (Outside the Convention Center, overlooking the Main Street Bridge We'll move outside the Convention Center at 9:50 p.m., to view the City's spectacular fireworks finale - the largest show in Rochester - which will close out the evening with a BANG at 10 p.m. Check out http://www.cityofrochester.gov/article.aspx?id=8589945844 for all festivities. Fireworks will be launched from the eastbound entrance ramp to I-490 off the Inner Loop over the Genesee River downtown, the river walk behind One Mt. Hope Avenue and the Court St. Bridge.

Hi Ginha! Hope your BIRTHDAY's wonderful! I have a special little something for you. So when are we going to see you and Dave again? Are you coming to the first falconwatch of 2011 on Saturday? It's going to be 50 degrees, but bring an umbrella. Joyce

Ely from 2008 is raising a family in central New York State.
Majesty from 2002 [one of the Toronto Five] is raising another family in Flint Michigan. She is also the last survivor from this hatch. Her parents were Ponce-Kingsley and Victoria.
Zanar from 2004 has a successful nest on the Ogdensburg bridge with four chicks.
Where is Ely? Is Majesty Mariah's sister? Zanar is Valiant's (Sabrina) mate? Does anyone know about the 4 chicks?

Am I reading that right? Hummers? I was thinkin To clarify - Last night Brian and I watched several little birdies and butterflies flying around in the Strong Science Museum's butterfly garden that you can see down the street from HSBC. Even after the sun sets, in Rochester you can stand outside in the snow with binoculars and go bird watching. Pretty cool. Now we have to figure out what kind of birds and hummingbirds are in there.

Has anyone seen Beauty? She hasn't been on Mercury!
She's there NOW. The other morning I watched Mercury on the streaming video and as quickly as Beauty flew in, she left. Camera 1 never even caught her on the stills. Brian is also keeping a lookout in the morning. He checks the east side of downtown from his apartment, including the south & west side of Xerox and HSBC. He reported seeing nothing this morning. If he does, one of us will post it. Joyce

I couldn't make it downtown to join MAK, so I glued myself to the computer this morning. Yay, I got to see her fly in. As quickly as she flew in she was off again.

Shaky,
The forum topic with MAK's pics was originally posted as a single subject with a specific date. I revised the title so she could continue to share her morning watch pics under one topic. MAK admits she is a little techno-challenged, and has a hard time with inserting links, images, etc. Donna has been helping post her pictures. Rather than having many separate topics for each watch, I thought it would be easier to view and follow MAK's daily pics under one topic. Carol and Dana just followed suit.
Personally, I would rather see a thread under Rochester Falcons that says Falcon Watcher Photos where everyone can go to see them under one heading. I understand the mission and purpose of the FalconWatch blog, but to be honest, it is much easier and faster to post to the forum than using the Dashboard program in FalconWatch. Plus there is also a comfort zone in posting to the forum. Sometimes it is intimidating to meet the expectation of "providing high quality still images." I only wish I could be good as Chad & Chris who post pictures of Seneca & Cheyenne on the Cleveland forum.

Brobeta - Were you referring to the east side of the gorge near the brewery/observation deck, or the west side close to RG&E?
West Side: We have seen deer there all year long. We have watched them swim across from the east side and in the winter cross the ice. I don't know if anyone is feeding the deer, but but we did see some of the red-shirt patrol (on bicycles) stop and throw apples below this fall. Don't know if they still do. I'm sure there is a way for them to get out of the area. We have never heard of any assistance given or any rescues.
Easr Side: The only time the watchers were worried about deer is when we observed 2 fawns living on the east side of the gorge wall near the observation deck. We did not see any adult with them. We were worried that as they grew, they would be trapped in that area. Somehow they got out without incident.
