646  Rochester Falcons / Rochester Falcon Offspring / Re: Rhea Mae and Tiago's Webcam - Toronto - Canadian Peregrine Foundation on: 07-Jun-10, 05:08:33 PM
I wrote to Linda & Frank thanking them for sharing the news of Scribe-Star.  I mentioned that the three Cleveland Terminal Tower ledglings were also blown off their ledge on Sunday morning.  All were found and placed back at home base.

Here is a Frank's message and a video.  You'll enjoy seeing how Rhea Mae and Tiago are good parents.

From Big Frank -

"Glad you enjoyed the video, and that all of the chicks that got blown around were OK. I wondered how the many sites around the areas of the storms made out. Here is a video clip of Star where he landed. It's a short not so upclose view, but it tells the story of the day well.

Please feel free to pass this around or post as you see fit. I havent posted this one to the CPF site as the quality isnt so great but I dont mind it being shared at all.

Doing a quick count this morning CPF is following 22 chicks with a few more sites to have possible hatches still. So far Star at the Sheraton is the only one to fledge.  Frank"

I thought all of you would enjoy a photo of Seneca shared by Elimac with permission from C. Lynch who took this on Memorial Day.

Isn't she regal!

Janet,

Tell Donna...here are some alternatives if she is in need of a falcon fix:

1. Go to the library, enter library card #, and get 30 minutes access on the internet.

2. Go to car dealership.  Pretend you are getting an oil change, and use their customer internet access while waiting.

I'm sure we can come up with some more creative ideas.  Do we have to wait a week?

A story shared today (6/2) by Elimac in Cleveland:

I went with my friend to watch the falcons at lunch today.  Seneca was sitting in the nest and only with the spotting scope on hi mag could we see the chick was sitting in front of her leaning against her.  (Aw)

Cheyenne came in to the first arch nearby with food, and softly called once.  Seneca took off out of the nest and flew to him to get the food.  Then she went back into the nest to feed.  When she was done, (and with the size of the crop on that little Warrior, not much was needed) she took the remaining food to the second arch and ate a little.  In the mean time Cheyenne flew into the nest to check on Warrior.  It was so cool, they touched beaks so sweetly.  A HUGE Awwww moment, for sure!

And look where Millie is: Millie is Freedom and Purity's daughter and Freedom is the son of Mariah and Kaver.

And...Millie is Archer's sister.

Even though Port Colburne has had its problems the past two years, they have something to be very proud of.

Up early and both RM&T have been flying all over in front of our window.  Just beautiful!  Banding starts at 10 am.  Looks like it's going to be a beautiful day.  Carol P.

So after a day of searching for Quest and yet again not finding her, your traveling road crew ended up at the Sheraton in a room on the 42nd floor just below the nest site.  Our first excitement happened when both Rhea Mae and Tiago flew off of the Sheraton and flew together in front of our window.  WooHoo!  Love those Peregrines!   clap

Both landed on the scaffolding on the right side of the very tall BMO building across the way.  Seems to be a favorite spot, where they have a wonderful view of their scrape.

Right now Tiago is on top of the Sheraton and Rhea Mae is across the street on the BMO building.

Now the Road Crew is relaxing and winding down from a long day on the prowl.  Lisa McK is mesmerized over the colors fluctuating up and down the CN Tower.  wow   Kathy O is concocting unusual beverages, playing bartender.  martini Joyce is enjoying these concoctions.  penguinspin Yours truly is Laughing and Laughing.   hysterical

Tomorrow will be a fun day spent with our friends from Canada banding Rhea Mae and Tiago's 3 eyases.

Oh, my there's a full moon!

Oh, back to our story.  We cannot wait to find out what the babies will be named and will report as soon as we find out.

Joyce will share pics of the full moon later.  Maybe.

Nite all.......

According to Chad & Chris...

"Yep, we were very surprised when the first chick hatched at 42 days and we were even more surprised this morning when the second chick hatched at 45 days! We could tell when we got the first look at the chick here early this morning that it had just hatched (it was very pink with moist, matted downy feathers)."

As always... a wee bit late, but I know you won't see this until you are back to work anyway.  Hope you had a wonderful birthday, Kathy!

I have a question - shouldn't the radio transmitter have fallen off Quest by now? It's been nearly 2 years!

KM - It all depends on how worn her harness is.  If it hasn't been subjected to severe conditions, it may stay on longer.  Some have been known to make it 2 1/2 -3 years.  I am hoping that Quest's transmitter/harness is one of those.  A few of us have tried to see her in person, but we've missed her everytime.  When she settles somewhere, we hope someone will ID her, so we can follow her in the future.  We'll continue to enjoy her travels as much as we can!

In the second video, it looked like archer was looking into the camera as if to say,

"Hey all you watchers...this isn't as easy as it it looks.  I can roll the eggs, but I can't roll these little fluffy moving things."

This is too funny...Chad & Chris find Seneca very entertaining. And, I thought she was just doing the "Happy Dance!"

From Chad & Chris
"And here's Seneca taking off from a tree a little less gracefully than Cheyenne's dive off of the pole (but very entertaining nonetheless). She was perched, then all of a sudden she got a burst of that "cat-like" energy, then started footing and biting a small stubby branch before falling sideways out of the tree still holding onto it and then releasing the branch as she was upside down..."

1.     2.     3.     4.       5.      6.     7.     8.      9.

Enjoy!

Thanks to Chad & Chris at CMNH for sharing their photos with everyone.
