WanderingFalcon (Carol P.): Beauty bathed on the river near library for about 10 mins.

Finally a watch with something more exciting!  Last night, Larry and I saw Archer on OCSR, then Archer in, Beauty out.  Beauty went to the foot of Mercury.  Later - Archer out, Beauty in. Archer flew to the base of Mercury.  He stooped off Mercury, but we couldn't see anything because of the buildings.

Hi! Glad everyone has gained access again.  I sent Cecilia a big thank you from all of us.

If you are not a member, I suggest you become one even if you don't intend to post.  Just don't forget your username and password. This way if there is a problem, CMNH can take care of it much quicker.

It is nice to interact with other watchers where our peregrines have taken up residency.  So glad Cleveland has a group like this.

Joyce

P.S. Donna, Birdmusic - they have no record of your being a member.  Jeanne - I'll send you confirmation of your information on file.

good news So glad hear you can get into the CMNH site!!!  I heard from Cecilia a little after 7:00 Friday evening and she asked if all of my friends are able to get on this forum again.  They had been working on the issue since Wednesday.  I knew they were successful with a getting a couple of people into the site, and I just wrote her back confirming the names of those who posted here.

CAROL P, JEANNE & MARDEAN - please let us know if you can view the site now.  I do have Cecilia's email if anyone needs to contact her directly.

Hi John Carlos,

I am wondering if the eggs were taken by a predator other than human.  Perhaps something that resides in that area?  I asked myself...what would cause a peregrine to leave it's nest and the eggs?  What animals eat bird eggs? What could get up to that height?  Several animals have been known to eat eggs including fox, raccoon, feral cats, rats, snakes, crows, and owls.

I don't know if the nest location is accessible to 4-legged animals, but certainly to a night hunter like the Great Horned Owl.  This could also account for the eggs disappearing the year before.  Although I couldn't find much on this topic, during the spring breeding season, Snowy Owls are known to eat eggs of waterfowl like Swans.

Just a thought.

Wow!  We have FIVE EGGS at Central Terminal!   hyper

And, what's this at UB?  A pip or just something stuck on the egg?

   mbanana

Other news:  one pefa seen in the Niagara Gorge but nest not seen.

One good thing...there are no trains at the terminal to get in the way of fledging.  But it is going to be an interesting time in Buffalo.  Looks like something on the side of the egg to me.

Donna - I bet before this season is over, your profile picture will be Archer.  You're starting to fall for him...aren't you?

I have been in contact with two of the Admins on the CMNH Forum.  I found out that if you get a blank page or Error 403... forbidden, it might be a lockout.

If someone tries unsuccessfully to log in too many times, the CMS will automatically block the IP number of the end machine to protect itself from what it perceives as an attack.

Is this only happening with people who are CMNH members trying to log in?  I told them that Jim P & Carol P were CMNH members, and was able to give them enough information so the Admin could remove the block.

Admin wrote...I don't know whether either of these people forgot their login or password or what. They tried to login multiple times with either the wrong login or the wrong password. This caused them to get locked out.  We have removed the blocks, so they can both try again. If either of them has forgotten their login or password, I can help with the login, but not the password. Carol Phillips' is CarolP.

I saw that Jim P successfully logged in after his IP was unblocked.  He told me later that he forgot his password.

Donna, Carol, Jeanne, Birdmusic, and anyone else - if this is the same issue, please send me a "personal message" with your CMNH username.  I can get your IP address from our members list and will forward it to CMNH to unblock it.

Once they unblock your IP, you should be able to login.  If you have the correct username and don't have your password, you can click on "forget password" and reset it to enter the website.  (As MAK noted in her post, you may have to delete your cookie).

Jim,
I sent your comments and the link to our topic by PM (private message).  Hopefully CMNH can check into this.

Statler nest today - Are there five eggs?

Can't tell...but it sure looks like a lotta eggs in that nest!

I heard back from Cecilia (via private message) and she said:

"If someone is having a problem, they can send a PM to me with the details and we'll see if we can figure out if it's at our end or theirs.  At the moment, I'm not having any problem."

I don't have her email, so I am writing her back as a private message explaining that no one can access the forum to send her a PM.  I am forwarding Carol and Jim's email addresses, hoping she will get in touch with one of you as a representative of Rfalconcam so someone can explain the problem, and find out why our members can't access their site.

Sage - did you happen to see yellow tape on the male when it landed at the grain elevators, or was it too far away?

Similar to Rochester, the Dayton Ohio falcons laid 4 eggs and on April 5th and 6th removed 1 egg each day. Because we have no documentation of our egg removal, it is interesting and educational to see how they were picked up and removed.

The Dayton Ohio falcons laid 4 eggs and on April 5th they removed one egg, and the following day, April 6th they removed a second egg.  By the looks of it, they were defective and the female was able pick the egg up where there was likely a crack.

There appears to be no dent on April 25, but on the morning of April 26 the dent was visible at 5:49 am, and later seen at 13:41 (1:41 pm) and 15:12 (3:12 pm).  It was not the egg that rolled away that Archer pulled back in to incubate.  Within 24 hours Beauty realized this egg was not viable.
