Rochester Falcons / Rochester Falcon Discussion / Re: Where do they go?

When you want to follow where they go when they are not in the nest, you can check to see if there are any falcon watch reports from the field on Twitter. When we are out on watch, we try to let viewers know where the falcons are, since you can't see them. Weekends we send more Tweets. During the week they usually appear when watchers are out and about in the morning, at lunch and after work.

Ei,
I think you are missing your calling...peregrine geneology. How fantastic would it be to be able to have a program that could spit out the ansestry of all the peregrines at one nestsite and then see them linked elsewhere.
You are so good at all these facts, would you be interested in putting together a more expansive chart of the Rochester Falcons? I know we have the family tree under History, but it would be nice to see the Legacy being carried on by the offspring.
This year we will have to start a new family tree...we have an egg..now we wait for an eyas.

Thanks Ei - I was going to post the same response, but got distracted with tweets on my phone.
Christiane - Welcome! No more a lurker! I moved your post because RfalconcamNow is direct linked with Twitter so the local watchers can get the information by phone. I got your post via tweet, and then one of our local watchers texted back because she got the message and wanted to know what was going on because she doesn't have a home computer.
As you peruse through the forum, don't forget to read the first post by Shaky (with the blue pin) under each Topic. It gives a description of the topic, who can access, etc

Rochester Falcons / Rochester Falcon Offspring / 2 Eggs for Seneca (maybe 3)

Just a quick update here-- Seneca had a second egg as of Tuesday. As of Thursday they have been incubating. There could be another egg in there, but we have only been able to see two because of the concrete mound in the cubby. Hopefully they have more than two eggs-- sometimes a pair in their first year of nesting will have a smaller than average clutch. We'll get some more pics on sometime over the weekend.

This is wonderful news!! Amazing how life goes on and we must adapt. But it will be sooo different watching a new pair, but exciting too. Everyone is on a new page this year -- where will the eyases go on their first flights? Will they find the gorge? No more smokestacks. Will the watchers have to invest in jet-propelled backpacks to follow the younguns??? Stay tuned! Vandrefalk
Re: red sentence - I'm all for that! Do you think GVAS can get a grant for backpacks instead of transmitters?
