Whoops! I forgot to mention pic #1 is the current Statler nest with four eggs. I should have recognized that location. Is there a pet rock at that nest too? At least DEC can check on the falcons even though the Statler is closed up. Buffalo is definitely furthering the species with lots of eggs. DEC is going to have their hands full this year. If you know any egg numbers from the other Buffalo/Niagara sites, let us know. I think we'll have to wait to hear or see babies at the grain elevator site before we know. I was there last Thursday at lunch and thought it was going to be a falconless watch. As I was going back to my car, both flew over the top of the building, then returned sunny side where the barges are (south side?). Both flew up to a specific location. I could see the tail feathers hanging over the edge. It looked as if one falcon was lying flat. I suspect it was the female. I saw a second set of tail feathers, but they disappeared quickly. ~Joyce

Brian and I were at Braddock Bay in the afternoon too. Couldn't find a parking place by the shelter, so we watched by the side of the road near the first field as you come in. We saw two resident Kestrels, and Brian caught them mating. They must have a nest nearby. Isn't is something to watch the raptors form kettles? Brian says the early morning is usually best beause the raptors are flying lower. On Friday, Brian and I has a phenomenal watch from Russell Station. We brought our chairs, sat in the middle of the grassy area, and had a nice place for the dogs to play too. Here is one of my kettle shots from Friday with TVs and a RTH in the middle, and one of the kestrels on Saturday. ~Joyce

Went to Braddock Bay Owl Woods hoping to see the smallest eastern owl (8 in) - Northern Saw-whet. Two weeks ago I saw my first. Today was another successful watch.
The conditions are perfect right now for migrating owls. For anyone in the Rochester area looking to do something different on Easter Sunday, head out to Owl Woods.
To get to Owl Woods and the Braddock Bay Raptor Research Banding Station, take the Lake Ontario Parkway and turn north onto Manitou Beach Rd. The parking lot and trailhead is just north of the Parkway exit.

A note to my "target" audience: Broad Street Bridge, beginning Monday, will be under construction through September. There will be no parking on the bridge and they'll start on the south side of the bridge, routing all traffic on the north side. It may be a blessing to have the Broad Street Bridge closed with A&B's first brood of fledglings. If they come down in the street, there won't be any traffic. Plus we might be able to get to them easier. Just hope we will still be able to watch from the bridge. ~Joyce

Additional ID comparisons: - Archer has white feathers above the cere...a trait handed down from Mariah.
- Beauty has dark stripes into her salmon breast. Archer's breast is clear white.
- Archer's moustache is narrower than Beauty's
