Daddy was as much a star of the Dog Whisperer as Cesar Millan.  Here's a poem that was posted by a fan on Facebook:

The time has come I think you know...

the Lord is calling, so I must go.

I love you so much; I wish it wasn't so...

I wish I could stay; I don't want to go.

You're the best family a dog ever had...

so kind and gentle, never mean or mad.

I'll never forget the day that we met...

I was so lucky to become your pet.

You opened your door and showed me your heart...

I'll never forget you; we'll never part.

You loved me and cared for me over the years...

you taught me everything and took away my fears.

The Lord is calling now I must go,

but before I go I want you to know...

I know it hurts to lose a friend,

but I'll always be with you even to the end.

R.I.P. Daddy

Carol P and Brian are downtown now.  Dana & Lou are on their way.  Falcon watchers notified.  Hopefully we can confirm.   They did not see bands in the scope.  Looks like a male eating to me, and Beauty at the nestbox.  Can anyone see bands on the bird eating?  Both falcons are gone now.

Keep posting sightings on Camera...some of us get the rfalconcam post by cell phone.

What a gorgeous peregrine this unbanded falcon is.  We definitely need a nestbox north of the city!!

WanderingFalcon (Carol P.): The plot thickens!  Dana reports that a banded juvenile peregrine knocked adult off KP Research Lab Bldg.  Adult flew east.  A 6 Pefa Week!

I can't believe it...When did Rochester become the winter migration spot?  By the time I get home from FL, they'll have moved out to visit Quest.

(P.S. - My Mom is doing well, just a very slow recuperation.  The only thing I've seen flying down here are vultures.  All the other raptors must be farther south.

Thanks for the videos.  I love the displays that the birds of paradise do to attract a mate!  OMG, I can't believe the sound that came out of that heron.  And wasn't the cockatiel & cat cute.

Jeff was on hiatus with the flu but he's back in action now. I LOVE these pics.

The pics with mama & pup are adorable.  I do love those eyes.  Glad Jeff is feeling much better.

Dear Anne,

The bond that you had with your Dad will always be in your heart.  If it wasn't for the love of nature that Fred Vickers shared with his family, we may not have gotten to know you.  And through you, we enjoyed his messages.  Now he is soaring with the angels.

Fondly,

835  Rochester Falcons / Falcon Watches / Re: Twitter - 12/13 Falcon on Kodak on: 13-Dec-09, 10:48:48 PM
I checked this mornings photos from the Kodak Tower (NE corner of launch pad).  Pictures are very grainy because I had the ISO up high, and it was dark and raining at the time, which gave us no real color definition - just silhouettes.  It is definitely not Archer or Mariah.

There is no narrow moustache, no white above the cere, and this PEFA has bands on both legs.  Silver on the right leg and a two-tone on the left, so it would not be Canadian.  It is hard to see black over green, but I did see a shading difference.  I think we had Beauty on Kodak today.

I went back through some other albums of Beauty, and the mustache looks the same.  One other time in early November, Brain and I thought we had a different falcon because it looked lighter, but confirmed later that it was Beauty.

Carol P said in yesterday's album "I have to wonder how that will affect our Winter visitors.  Will Beauty allow any other Peregrines in the city?"  I think Beauty was expanding her lookout, and doesn't plan on letting any other falcon into her territory.

I was at Medley center and I saw the silohuette of a very large bird eating something on the ground. I drove closer and I saw it was a big redtail hawk. I drove back to work, got my camera and went back. the hawk flew into a tree and finally I got to see what she was eating. It was a seagull. pretty amazing!

I wonder if this was Dana's RTH and Gull???

This looks just like the reddish headed one we saw on Sunday in the tree nest to the old K-Mart building (see Carol P's pics).  I have seen two RTHs together on the Ridge Rd communication tower, flying over Medley Center, on lights over the expressway nearby, and flying around St. Anns.  I saw the male (darker head) hunt for small prey on the ground.  This may be the female who likes a "gullicious" meal.

Thanks for the videos Big Frank.  I found the contents of the pellets interesting.

I accompanied a couple of watchers this weekend to look for evidence of snowy owls that have come south from Canada.  This was my first experience seeing lots of bones and several pellets. I have no idea what bones are what.  I was told some were duck vertebrae, but there were large bones too.  May have found a part of a skull, but not sure...So much to learn!

Donna - This is a marvelous saga of Jeff's Antartic adventures.  He sent some great pics and I love the penquins.  But, those seal eyes get me every time.  So where is Jeff now?
