I'm not very tech savvy so I can't post the link, but USA Today has some wonderful pics caught by a traffic cam of a snowy owl in flight.  Really great photos!
4  Other Nature Related Information / Other Nature Web Cams / Cornell Bird Cams on: 01-Aug-15, 09:47:57 AM
This may have been mentioned before but I just found the Cornell cams at www.allaboutbirds.org.  They have owls, kestrels, hawks, ospreys, a pond cam and a great feeder cam.  My youngest cat loves to watch that one and I've seen Canada geese, blackbirds, blue jays, woodpeckers, goldfinches, doves, and the ever popular squirrels so far!  There is a lot of info about all kinds of birds and helps identify birds you may have seen but don't know how to identify.  With our falcon season slowing down it's a great place to watch and learn.

With so much sadness observed at so many nests this year this is truly a blessing.  Nature can seem cruel at times but it's news like this that shows us the joy and wonder.  Congratulations MAK!  I can't think of a better person to be on the front lines with this new Rochester family.
6  Rochester Falcons / Rochester Falcon Offspring / Re: Rhea Mae and Tiago's Webcam - Toronto - Canadian Peregrine Foundation on: 01-Jul-15, 10:20:06 AM
Rhea Mae and Tiago are in nest box now renewing their pair bond.  They must feel Sandy is OK wherever she is.

I just checked the web site and Sandy has fledged!!!  She apparently went from the Toronto Sheraton to a penthouse balcony (nothing but the best for this girl).  When they went up to rescue her she was gone so she's apparently in good shape. yahoo
8  Rochester Falcons / Rochester Falcons News / Re: Bronx Rescued on: 23-Jun-15, 08:10:00 AM
I am so grateful for all you dedicated watchers who spend long hours keeping track of the fledglings. I too hope Bronx will be OK. Without watchers, perhaps no one would even have known he was in need of rescue.

Dot in PA

I agree Dot.  Especially with our "Wild Bunch" going places I don't remember them going in past years.  Our watchers must have roller skates.

Special thanks to Shaky for being able to adjust the cameras to keep up with the action!  I'd suggest we chip in to get him a drone-mounted camera for Christmas but I'm sure Beauty and Dot.ca would destroy it in short order.

Does anyone know?
Is Genesee bowing to Dot.ca...like Dot.ca does to Beauty during courtship?
This is the first time I have seen this behavior between eyas and parent...is this showing sign of respect?

On the humerous side, Bronx's pose is so funny. LOL

I'm not sure if it's a bow or the cam caught him looking for food in dots feet. But very cute!

Maybe he's just getting an early start on Father's Day recognition (probably hoping it'll get him some extra food!)

Sandy has made it all the way down to the far end of the ledge.  Probably checking out the runway for pre-fledge practice runs!
11  Rochester Falcons / Rochester Falcon Offspring / Re: Quest (2008) and Skye - Toronto/Don Mills on: 11-Jun-15, 07:58:57 AM
I just read yesterday's fledge watch report for the boys.  It sounds like they are trying to run the watchers ragged.  Two of them rescued and released last night.

The boys are on the roof hiding from the parent in the box.  "Bet they'll never look up here!"

Sandy is out for a walk on this beautiful Sunday!

No flights yet but they do seem to love the camera.  One or two are usually directly in front of the ledge cam.  They are busy trying to remove the last of their fluff (and getting it stuck in their beaks in the process).

According to their Twitter posts white tape girl is flying well and red tape girl was rescued and put back on the roof in good shape.  Now if they can just keep those pesky buildings out of their way they'll be fine.
