Banding was this morning.  Names are Bolt, Flash and Storm.  There are 2 females and 1 male (no word yet on which is the male).  Banding video on YouTube shows an interesting use of an umbrella to fend off the adults.

Just caught this on the cam before Rhea Mae came back.

The Columbus falcons will be banded Monday, May 18th at 10:00 AM.  According to their blog this is the last year that they will be banding.  Ohio has decided that the population is no longer endangered.

According to Twitter they will be banding the eyases on May 21 between 1 and 2 PM.  They certainly are getting big!

I just looked in on Quest and I think I'm seeing a 4th unhatched egg in front of her.  Am I imagining it?  It's very grainy and hard to see.

I just checked the Columbus site and the 3 eyases are gathered together at the back of the box.  The remaining egg is up near the front.  I doubt if it will hatch at this point.  Not a good year for the 4th eggs so far (Harrisburg lost theirs too).  I'm betting our falcons will break the bad luck.

According to their blog, the 3rd hatch occurred yesterday (see photo).  Hopefully their 4th egg will fare better than the one in Harrisburg and we'll have 4 eyases to watch.

Unless I'm starting to see things, one of Quest's eggs has a pip (see attached).  She's a lot more active than she has been.

Kris - Thanks for posting the link and the family tree.  I am still getting used to posting and haven't figured out how to do a lot of things yet.  I am not up to date on all the relationships either but it's fascinating to see where they go.

The attached photo is one of the reasons I like to follow this site.  I've seen some awesome close up pix of their feathers (and once in a while a close up of the prey - yuck!).

Thanks for posting pics because I can't do that from my iPad!  In case you didn't know, Pigott was nesting on a building in Brighton for a couple years with DC ((while he was also with Beauty) before she left and settled in Syracuse last year.  Gleig nests at Central Terminal in Buffalo and is mate to Diamante..2008 offspring of Mariah and Kaver!

I knew that Diamante was in Buffalo but I had no idea that we had a Rochester/Syracuse/Buffalo/Columbus connection.  Amazing how they get around.

The last hatch was on April 23rd and the remaining egg has a huge hole in it.  I just checked and Mom is still brooding the egg.  I assume at some point she will give up and concentrate on the 3 babies that hatched.

The second eyas arrived this morning.  Two down, two to go!

They just announced that the first hatch has occurred with a pip in a second egg.  Check out the blog link at the bottom left to see a video of the hatch.

I just checked the website and the hole in the 4th egg is bigger but I didn't see any movement.  Mom is still brooding it but I'm starting to think that it won't fully hatch.

I finally got a picture of the 4th egg but it doesn't look like much progress has been made.  Mom has been busy brooding and pushing the little ones back under her most of the day.  It's amazing how gentle they can be with their sharp beaks.
