I'm just trying to keep all of our pefas straight for now.  We don't know who Beauty's winter-friend is, but maybe we have an ID on LadyPefa at Kodak Park.   IF, as Joyce's pictures show, the Lady Pefa  has a band of 71 H, and is Unity from Toledo, Ohio, does that mean that Beauty and Lady Pefa's mother (Belle?) are sisters?    I need a score card.  But do I have it kind of correct for now?

(For those who may not have looked at the comments section...
Karen Lang Says:January 7th, 2011 at 4:39 PM

If it’s the female from Univ of Toledo, she’s related to Beauty…the female at the University of Toldeo, Belle, fledged from the Univ of Pittsburgh in 2003. Beauty fledged from here in 2007.)

That's how I'm reading it!

Ei

Ei...

Beauty was hatched and fledged from Pittsburgh's Cathedral of Learning site...I don't think we ever posted the date on the KFC board, though.  Jim P may remember the year she fledged.

Hi Everyone!

Thank you so much for all the wonderful Birthday wishes!!!

I spent a (mostly) computer-free day - at the zoo and at a friend's.  The best part of the day at the zoo was getting to see one of our newest babies...a 3 week old Babirusa piglet named Homer!  What a little cutie he is...but he'll grow up to look like this...

(This is an adult)

Thank you again!!!

Love the detail...you can still see the remnants of their egg teeth!

And name that prey...the feather by the one on the right...looks like a cedar waxwing feather, but seems too small...

OMG!  It's my favorite time of their youth...the Buddha Baby stage...Yay!!!!   clap

Hey Donna!

Would you believe that this type of thing can even happen in protected areas?  We (the L.A. Zoo) have endangered whistling ducks in our aviary.  The female laid a clutch of 9 eggs and would you believe...

ONE OF THE ZOO VISITORS STOLE 4 OF THEM!!!!

The good news is that we have 5 healthy ducklings!

15  Rochester Falcons / Rochester Falcon Discussion / Re: third egg viability? on: 20-May-10, 10:22:20 PM
One thing one must remember is that this is Archer and Beauty's first year with eggs.  In 2002, when it was Kaver's first year with Mariah, 4 eggs were laid and only 2 hatched (one of them was Freedom, Archer's dad!).  Non-viable eggs during the first nesting (or even the 5th year) of a pair is not an uncommon occurrance.
