106  Other Nature Related Information / Falcon Web Cams / Re: Peregrines at Montezuma Monday on: 24-Aug-10, 11:31:27 AM
I asked him and he said it was probably about 5:30 in the afternoon.  He saw them near the Knox-Marcellus section of Montezuma.  This is on the other side of the thruway, so definitely a possibility.  We are considering going up there this week to check it out.

This was posted on the Cayuga Birdlist yesterday...wonder if one of the juvenile Peregrines seen was Jemison.
Suzanne

A good amount of reshuffling occurred several times when two juvenile PEREGRINE FALCONS decided to team up and hunt shorebirds in flight. While most birds were in the air, two mostly basic-plumaged adult HUDSONIAN GODWITS joined the rest of the flying birds. They landed out with the dowitchers for a while, then on the mud in the next pond over, then were flushed by the Peregrines (ultimately joined by a third juvenile Peregrine) and disappeared. While we were scanning, I heard a WHIMBREL call twice not far off, but I was never able to locate it.  It may have been flying by or it may have been in the taller vegetation, but in any case, keep an eye out for it in the area.

Anne, what a wonderful tribute to your Dad!!  I lost my Dad about a year and a half ago and we shared a love of all nature, but birds in particular!  Don and I started taking photos of birds and I made nature/bird albums for him.  We still take pics of birds and nature...now if I could just figure out how to send them to him.  Thank you for sharing your and your Dad's experiences  heart

You are correct Kris.  So sorry we didn't hang around with you and Bill yesterday.  Everyone was in high-Watch mode, looking for Callidora.   foxbinocs

Kris, that goes for Don and me!!  We were so focussed on locating Callidora yesterday, and when the call came to bring the scope...we just took off!  My apologies.  We should have had you and Bill follow us to the comm. tower!
