302  Rochester Falcons / Rochester Falcon Discussion / Re: YouTube vid of banding? on: 14-Jun-10, 05:09:39 PM
I have to admit...my cat loved the YouTube video of the banding!  As soon as they started kakking he ran around the house looking for the culprit and decided it must be the fish.  Of course, I had the volume up so I could catch it all!

Thanks for posting it!

Hey Joyce...great to see you and Brian Saturday!  Don and I went back up to Syracuse yesterday.  We saw some great flying by the juvies, and some "tough" landings.  Most of the time all four juvies were in view...love it!  When we left early evening Hiawatha still had not fledged, but had hopped across to the corner!  Maybe today...

Sage,
Thanks for the great pics and info on the Statler and UB families!  Gosh, I hope they don't demolish the old Statler building!  We went up there to watch Handsome and Beauty's kids several years ago.  The architecture in that area is wonderful and great for falcon perching!

We are hoping to go and see the UB kids soon!

Oh, Jeanne, you had to post such a sad story.  It annoys me that the humans created the situation, so why did they HAVE to shoot the mom?!

The BBC has done some wonderful documentaries on the Raven and how intelligent they are.  Corvids are a smart family of birds, but unfortunately they are often misunderstood.

I'll have to check out the article.

Suzanne, who spends LOTS of time studying/observing crows happy

This year we were at Reeds Beach mid-May and were hoping to see the Red Knots arrive, but were a bit early for the big arrival.  A couple of years ago we were at Cape May as the Red Knots and the Horseshoe crabs were in full force.  It was awesome to watch them fly, land, then take off again!  We had a great chat with one of the Red Knot "watchers" at Reeds Beach.

Thanks for posting information on them.

This is discouraging!  The other day my cat, Huddie, started vomiting violently for no apparent reason.  At the time, I couldn't help but wonder if there was something wrong with his food.  Now, I really wonder, and will keep an eye on him...of course, I always of anyway happy

When Quest was on Cape Cod/Nantucket we tried to track her down.  The gentleman who photographed her told us she was hanging out with a young male for a while.  Can't help but wonder if she sometimes has a travel companion now.  Could be a "mom's" wishful thinking, though.

Looks like I was not the only one trying to "save" as many of the images of the banding today as my fingers, and computer, would allow!!  It was so exciting!  I love the one of a very serious Shaky readying everything for the event.
