Hi Everyone! This past Sunday Don and I participated in a US Fish & Wildlife work day event...planting 450 trees! The trees were purchased with some of the money raised by the Muckrace. Remember Team Peregrine? The trees were all native species and planted in a soybean field on a recently acquired farmland parcel. Someday it will be a lovely bird and bat friendly forest! Suzanne

Thanks for checking on them, Joyce! I have fond memories of running around in traffic in downtown Buffalo looking for the juvies and adults from the Statler nest site.
Maybe Don and I will take a road trip to Buffalo this winter, he's a big Sabres fan! Suzanne

Hi All, We went to Montezuma this weekend to look for the American Golden Plovers. They are in non-breeding plumage, so they are difficult to spot, but we found them with the Killdeer in the mucklands. While driving around, we spotted an adult Peregrine sitting on top of a snag. This was a different Peregrine from the two we saw last weekend. It was definitely an adult, and looked to be a male. We told him to go to Rochester and check out Mariah Suzanne

Yesterday while looking at some birds in the trees I saw a kettle of migrating Northern Harriers very high up in the sky. Later, I saw a kettle of Turkey Vultures flying high. This morning it seems as though the Blue Jays are now on the move through the Ithaca area! At one point I had about 30 Blue Jays in the back! Yes, fall is definitely in the air! Suzanne
