Rochester Falcons / Rochester Falcon Discussion / Re: So, What Does Everyone Think about the Rochester Falcons Situation?
|

Obviously, I don't check in too often anymore, but I like this topic. I think those of us who experienced the Mariah and Kaver years will always miss them. There was a long history there and we thought we knew them so well! Nothing will ever be quite the same, but life is full of good-byes and changes. I've had a bit of trouble "warming up" to Beauty, but it is what it is. The triangle in Rochester is certainly interesting and Archer is quite a guy and, of course, Mariah's grandson!! I know I loved watching the babies last year and was as worried about Jem as any of M&Ks offspring -- let's hope for more success next year! One thing I do miss is keeping up with all of you -- somehow it seemed a bit easier on the KFalconcam board, but I do love this site. I'm sorry to hear of Patti's losses and I know several other members have had some sad times. I think of you all so often and am so grateful to all of you that keep the home fires burning!! Been out of town and didn't realize there would be a watchers weekend (even without babies). Been awhile since we've been able to get up there (especially now that we live in SC!), but thinking of you all and hoping you are having a fabulous time together!!! Lots of good memories of previous weekends! Vandrefalk/Karen R

Anne, I'm glad you posted, but so sorry that you've felt this way. I don't keep up with the board that much (too much other stuff going on) and mainly check during nesting/fledging season.
I've been around since 2000 and I know when the Kodak boards shut down we lost a lot of folks. Hey, we lost folks each year during the Kodak time! Anyone remember Alison? How about the bathrobe brigade? And there are a lot of others I remember that we no longer hear from. Transitioning to this board was difficult, but I've learned to like the threaded parts as I can quickly check the latest information. Sometimes, when I have time (like today), I roam around the rest of the site and catch up on vacations and other topics.
I tend to agree with a lot of what Patti said -- and it's sometimes sad that nothing stays static -- I don't always react well to change, either!
Just know that you've always been an important part of this "family" -- we loved your dad's comments and I'm so very, very sorry to hear about your husband (shows you how much I've not been around).
You stick around, ya hear? Vandrefalk

Rochester Falcons / Rfalconcam Website News / Re: A New Logo
|
on: 28-Nov-10, 06:09:36 PM

Boy, this is going to be hard -- there is a lot of talent out there! A lot of them look like sports logos to me and I think some of them with the city background are a bit busy -- and were the decision made to go with a city background, shouldn't the Kodak Tower be in there somewhere? It has such a strong place in our history. Having said that, #79 appeals to me -- there's something reminiscent of the Kodak colors we used to see -- I like the falcon. It's also small enough to be on a lapel pin and would look good on a shirt. I like the artist's other submissions as well, but think I like this one best.\ I'm sure glad I don't have to make this decision -- and have so much respect and admiration for all of you working this site and making RFalconcam happen! Also glad Anne asked her questions as I think we all understand a bit more what keeping this site entails! Vandrefalk/Karen R

I also meant to thank all of my dear friends who sent glorious pictures of Mariah so I could share them with the artist -- bless you!! Thanks, Shaky, for posting the thumbnails -- what would we do without you? (Don't answer that!)

This brings such happy tears to my eyes! Sweet Jem is now on his/her own and flying free. That wouldn't have happened without all you dedicated watchers and the vets, rehabbers and DEC. What a fantastic group you all are! I have a great deal of fondness and respect for you.
Thank you for sharing this wonderful experience -- it truly made my day! Vandrefalk

Doesn't Wild Wings have a flight cage? Is that where Jemison could go when he is healed? I'm hoping all things are in his favor and it was a clean break. Given the comments about his excellent flight capabilities very early, perhaps he just got a little cocky Sending good thoughts his way! Vandrefalk
