We lost the stills-Shaky had to make some last second changes to get the video running.

We should have some excellent video to post once ustream  sets it up.

Glowz decided to build a web on Main Cam's nighttime video camera. The web would have obscured the view of the fireworks so I had to use the regular Main Cam to capture video of the fireworks. This works ok because the fireworks and city lights are bright, but as always, the video goes to black when Main Cam takes a still photo. During the day, when this happens, the black period only lasts for a second, but at night when it's much, much darker out (even during fireworks) the black period lasts 10-15 seconds. That's just too long -- we'd miss a lot of the fireworks. So I told Main Cam to stop taking still photos during the fireworks, hence the lack of still photos.

Both Youtube and Ustream have made changes to their videos that broke the Forum's ability to view the videos in a post. From now on, links to videos in posts will appear as regular links that you will need to click on to view the video.

Youtube videos can be viewed in a post again. Ustream videos still display as a link.

The D&C article has been updated. Extremely well done despite the inaccurate falcon count. (For the superstitious, Bronx was number 13 at Times Square.) Nice touch adding the story about the kids in The Bronx.

Thanks, Kris.  It's a good article, although I had to correct one thing in the comments.  Counting this year's three, thirteen falcons have hatched at the Times Square Building. 

I thought that was wrong-I counted this morning and came up with 57 total but it was early...thanks for commenting.

They quoted our Falcon History page, which only counts successful fledges and does not include this year.

As of Dec 31, 2014, there were 53 successful fledges in Rochester, 43 at Kodak and 10 at Times Square.

Well that makes sense then. We don't update that stuff in real time...just not enough hours in the day.
