We confirmed again that the male has a black band, and interestingly on his right foot. Thats bass ackwards,so that narrows considerably the possibilities and has us leaning one direction.
What color band is on his left leg? Up until 2004, Mike Allen was putting black USFWS bands on falcons' right legs and black/red bands on the left legs. In 2004 he switched to the familiar silver USFWS bands. So if the male has a black band on the right leg and a black/red band on the left, it could be a pre-2004 falcon from NY.

Figured I'd post this here: By Diana Robinson
Crows and falcons already coexist in city
The writer of Saturday's letter suggesting the use of falcons to rid Rochester of its crows seems to be unaware of two points. First, the crows gather in Rochester as darkness falls and leave early in the morning, whereas falcons hunt during daylight hours. Second, we already have falcon presence in Rochester. At least one peregrine falcon, Beauty, is seen downtown on a daily basis, often pausing on or around the Mercury statue a couple of blocks from where the crows gather. Her appearances are reported on Facebook (Rfalconcam) and at rfalconcam.com.
—DIANA ROBINSON ROCHESTER as posted in the D & C
from Christiane on kfalconcam About the crows downtown; I was wondering if owl decoys in select trees would be enough to deter those crows? Had thought about putting one in our garden to keep rabbits from eating some choice veggies. We've had bunnies scampering around in quite a few neighbors' yards (city). We've seen them very recently because of the more moderate weather. They've been running across the street back & forth. We've tried kinds of kinder/gentler methods to keep them away. I didn't want the other birds, robins, cardinals, jays, finches, etc. to stay away if I had an owl statue. Are peregrines bothered by owls? Christiane

From Christiane on Kfalconcam: So sorry to hear about Valiant--does anyone know if he had fathered any young at the Ogdensburg site; didn't know if anyone was following that location. What a loss this week. Fly high Valiant and Callidora. Christiane

Several times yesterday when I logged on, it would say the rfalconcam Forum was now available on Tapatalk for my iPad. Bought it today but haven't had a chance to look at it yet.
That's interesting. I didn't know that it would do that.
