We should take what politicians say publicly with a grain of salt. There's always a hidden agenda.

The mere fact that there needs to be a law to make the shooting of research bears illegal says to us that there are people out there who are ready and willing to shoot them, and these are the people who will oppose such a law. They will use whatever influence they have (read: money) to convince the politicians to not pass the bill. Of course the politicians will never publicly say that they will shoot down the bill because they need the money to get reelected and further their political ambitions. Instead, they will come up with some excuse like their concern for poor hunters who accidentally shoot research bears, or the rights of gun owners, blah, blah, blah.

You can still voice your opinion using the petition. Unfortunately, if you want your opinion to count, you have to move to Minnesota and register to vote.

I doubt that the members of the Minnesota legislature care what I have to say about this matter since their reelection does not depend on my vote.

That single pic of Mr. T. sure reminded me of Kaver.  I was trying to scare up
some links from the web of Kaver to put alongside of and the one that he was
flying in the gorge (2007 Imprints)--maybe someone can post it. I put them side
by side and am getting more confused.  He had that same look. Looking directly
at Mr. T.. I don't know; Kaver had the skinny legs, so, maybe not, but. . .just
maybe, he could've plumped up.  Does anyone have any 2008 last pics of Kaver to
compare with?  How wonderful to see all those close-up pictures of the falcons
posted today; they're so beautiful! Anyway, Mr. T looks like a good match IF
Archer doesn't return.  Hope all turns out. . .Christiane

Yes, it does that almost daily, sometimes several times a day. It usually recovers on its own after a few minutes.
