Falcon watch reports are to be posted in the FalconWatch blog as they were before the Forum came into existence. Nothing has changed.
Reports posted there are automatically echoed to the Falcon Watches board on the Forum. They are also tweeted to Rfalconcam's followers on Twitter, and updates are sent to friends on FaceBook. The reports are also reposted on the Kfalconcam message board, which then emails them to people who choose to receive Kfalconcam posts as email. This ensures the widest possible distribution of falcon watch reports without you having to type them in more than once.
If you have problems logging in to the FalconWatch blog, contact Kenn.
Here are the URLs. FalconWatch blog: http://rfalconcam.com/falconwatchTwitter: http://twitter.com/rfalconcamFacebook: http://www.facebook.com/rochester.falconcam (I would like to see this changed to simply http://www.facebook.com/rfalconcam -- Jess, are you reading this?) The FalconWatch blog was started in mid 2008 to help with fledge watches by providing watchers with useful information as well as a place to enter and organize their reports. But because not everyone read the blog, watchers had to also post their reports on kfalconcam, violating the KISS rule. With the advent of the Forum and some under-the-hood software tricks, it is now possible to enter watch reports just once and have them automatically broadcasted on these popular channels. All that is required is for watchers to sign up for a FalconWatch account and follow some simple guidelines when posting their reports.

Yes, it can be set that way although it can be confusing for new users. They could end up with 50 windows open!
The trick I always use when I want to open a link in a new window is to hold down the shift key while clicking on the link. When I want to open the link in a new tab, I hold down the control key (command key on Mac) while clicking on the link.
I do see where it could make a mess if you're not looking for a link to do that. I usually just right click & open a new tab or window if I need to, but sometimes I forget particularly after I've been spoiled by the links within the forum. We can always revisit it later. Thanks! I think the rule will be: If the page you are going to has the navigation menu at the top of the page, it will open in the same window. If it doesn't (i.e. it doesn't have a way to get back to the site other than hitting the back button) it will open in a new window. Of course you can override this by shift-clicking, control-clicking, or right-clicking the link.

And...re: the new links...can they be set to open a new tab/window like the internal forum ones do? Not being greedy or anything ...it's just a nice feature if it's available. And a tad too sensitive for my taste...they're dropping down with even a glancing touch of the cursor...one of my pet peeves on other sites.
I have added a short delay before the menus drop down. Quit and restart your web browser and then see if the menus work better for you.

Thanks, Janet. Just so you know, the menu change is not for looks. The Rfalconcam site currently has navigation issues. While all pages have a menu at the top, some pages also have a menu on the left side of the page while others don't because they don't have the room (like the forum for example). The left menu has links to every page, but the current top menu doesn't. This means that you can run into the old "you can't get there from here" scenario for some pages.
The new top menu does have links to every page including some new ones that are coming down the pike. This means you can quickly get to any page from any other page. It also means we won't need the left side menu anymore so we can use that space for other things like more and/or bigger pictures of the falcons.
