World's Fastest Animal

See the world through the eyes of nature's fastest animal: the peregrine falcon. Though once perilously endangered in the U.S., this spectacular predator is now thriving again in American cities and on every continent but Antarctica. What is the secret to its predatory prowess? To find out, follow a young family of peregrines in urban Chicago as the chicks hatch and learn from their parents to fly and hunt. And join expert falconer Lloyd Buck as he trains a captive peregrine and puts its hunting skills to the test. What's the secret behind the peregrine falcon's blistering speed, able to reach nearly 200 mph?

This is now available for streaming.

2nd week of feedings!

Well, that explains all the poop on the walls.
636  Resources / Polls / Choose a name for a 2020 eyas on: 17-May-20, 07:57:58 PM
Descriptions:

Agape embraces a universal, unconditional love that transcends and persists regardless of circumstance.

Aidan is little and fiery which perfectly describes these young little falcons.

Audubon is the oldest association for bird conservation.

Azure refers to the beautiful sky that falcons inhabit.

Cirrus is the type of feathery, wispy clouds you see on a beautiful spring or summer day.

Citus is the Latin word meaning quick or speedy like a fast Peregrine falcon.

Courage is a reminder to have courage now. What better symbol of courage than a beautiful, fearless, noble bird of prey?

Elpis is the personification and spirit of hope in Greek mythology.

Elsu Elu is a combination of Native American words for flying falcon and full of grace.

Espy means to catch sight of. It is exciting, and sometimes difficult, to catch a glimpse of falcons because of their speed and how high they fly.

Hope is for a brighter and better future, is something we need, and is understood by all. New life represents hope.

Jalmari is Norse for helmeted warrior.

Majestic is a synonym for the word regal.

Metis is the fastest of all moons in our solar system just as the Peregrine falcon is the fastest of all animals.

Mistral is a strong, cold northwesterly wind that blows through the Rhone valley and southern France into the Mediterranean.

Nova is a transient astronomical event.

Paragon because a peregrine is a model of excellence!

Quetzalli means feather, precious thing in Native American Nahuatl. (Sorry, it's misspelled above but can't be fixed without restarting the voting.)

Resilience is needed to survive and thrive.

Roc is not just a play on the falcons' city of birth. The Roc is an enormous legendary bird of prey in the Middle Eastern tradition. The book One Thousand And One (Arabian) Nights includes tales about the Roc. Marco Polo also reported on the legendary bird.

The voting period for this poll ends Sunday, May 24th at 11:59 PM EDT.

One of this year's eyases will be given the name that receives the most votes. In case of a tie, the number of times each of the names was submitted will be used as a tie breaker. If that is a tie too, a coin will be flipped.

I need to check my records from the past few years, but it seems to me there are more middle of the night feedings this year than before.

DC's girlfriend left him.

The first feeding chart of the season! So far, 7-10 meals per day!

Seven to ten meals is the norm when you stay at home all day.

Thank you for the chart.
