When I lived in my house I had chickadees and nuthatches that would cache sunflower seeds and peanuts in the garage wall and up under the roof shingles. And of course the Blue Jays took peanuts off to cache who knows where. I used to chuckle when they would place a nut in one of the gardens or in the lawn then pick up a leaf or mulch or something and place it on top of the nut. I don't know if this was done to hide it or remind them of where they put it but the squirrels usually found them and scurried off with the goods!

Posted on Hamilton FB site:
I'm at a seminar at city hall today with great view of the Hamilton nest ledge area. I know Surge is at a rehab recovering from a possible territory fight ( I recovered him) I have seen 2 PF's that seem very conferable with each other around the site. Do we have a new male here? Who could he be!
Nooooo!! Not good!! Survival of the fittest in nature-sad but true.

Donna, Ei, Ginny and everyone else on the east coast stay hunkered down until the storm passes and I'll be praying the worst you have to deal with is shoveling your way out! ... or rationing the mulled wine. I can make mulled wine!!! We have spirits!! No one wants to see a drunk shoveler!! I have no clue what we are getting, the numbers keep changing. 2 feet is last I heard. NYC, Long Island, they are getting hit. The storm is coming up the coast, 2 inches per hour and it's around the Norfolk area according to the news!! I go out every hour to keep a jump on it. Tomorrow we get the surprise when we wake up! We go on! Thanks MAK!! Way easier on the back to shovel every so often instead of waiting til it's done snowing. I think at this point the wind will be more trouble than the snow. Good luck people and stay safe!
