"We still have each others back, even though I had to leave. (Didn't want to but..)"

Donna and I do make a good team whether it be in the field or on the phone long distance! Right from the first time I texted her back in 2010 when I was on a watch and she posted it on the forum.(this was pre-twitter days)  It's nice to be able to call on her for help when I'm on a watch alone. It can be pretty difficult to keep track of things when watching by yourself sometimes. Like today!!! Thanks for helping me know where to look on the platform for the falcons today D! Like Jeanne said yesterday it can be very confusing trying to ID and keep track of who's who and where they are on that Frontier Communications tower.  handshake

I spotted this Red-tail Hawk on fledge watch this morning with Donna. And this afternoon after I mowed the lawn and freshened the bird baths and filled the feeders I was entertained by the many House Sparrows that visit my backyard.

5084  Other Nature Related Information / General Nature Discussion / Re: This is no pigeon! Peregrine falcon shows up on sidewalks of New York on: 06-Aug-12, 01:10:43 AM

New Yorkers, used to sharing their sidewalks with grumpy pigeons, got a shock Wednesday afternoon when an injured peregrine falcon showed up on Second Ave. just south of 42nd St.

Members of the NYPD’s Emergency Service Unit took the majestic bird, whose gender was not immediately identified, to the Wild Bird Fund.

“It’s a young falcon, and it has a fracture on its left wing,” said Zhong Huang, a staffer at the wildlife rescue center. “We’re putting him on fluids and taking an X-ray.”

Falcons nest high on skyscrapers and bridges in urban areas.
