Adult Seen In Area
November 14, 2010 - Scarborough - Yellow Pages

Today while driving by the area of the Yellow Pages building,my friends and I observed an adult Peregrine Falcon in flight. Hoping this coming year they nest successfully!

 On our way home from seeing Quest, Joyce and I went to the yellow pages building to see if we could find a falcon. We saw something on a building across the street and thought it was a falcon. We got all excited and drove closer. She got out of the car with her camera all set to click away when it became obvious that it was a pigeon not a falcon. Needless to say we had a good laugh over that!

    Kris she's on the base of Mercury on the far right corner. This is with my camera zoomed as much as it will zoom!  

I thought that little bump was her.  Thanks, MAK! 

Did ya see that all you long lens camera owners. "A little bump"! Come on break out with the good pics. You're making everyone strain their eyes and break out with the magnifying glass.Your public awaits!!!

They always make the Peregrine the menacing bad guy. 

That's cuz they are fierce birds of prey with 7 foot wing spans!

Just before I left this morning DebbieH stopped to watch the Beautyful one finishing up her meal. I have to mention that the whole time Beauty was plucking feathers and eating her prey just above her their were 2 small birds sitting atop Mercurys head and 1 on the money bag hand. Clearly they were smart enough to know they were safe from this fierce predator! Our girl was so busy at the dinner table she probably didn't even know she was being watched! I so love starting every day with Beauty. Keep your eyes to the sky everyone!

   The plan is to meet at the Highland Park diner(960 S. Clinton Ave.) at 12:30 tomorrow, Tuesday 11-16-10. Bobbie looks forward to meeting anyone who can make it. Dan and I are going so far.

Goshawk(Northern)

A powerful raptor of northern forests, the Northern Goshawk is the largest North American accipiter. It maneuvers through dense woods, taking prey as small as squirrels and as large as grouse, crows, and snowshoe hare.
