So to finish my report the m word in my last tweet if you haven't figured it out already is morning! I had to leave before I could track her down. She was probably eating that warm breakfast I spoke of as I was leaving downtown Rochester!

Brown Pelican

When I first moved to California in the 60s, there was not a pelican to be seen.  They had been as decimated as their Louisana relatives.  I first saw them in a small rookery on an island off Baja.  The population rebounded but now faces new threats.

B is for Brambling
It was a big surprise to see this Brambling at my feeder during a snowstorm in February 2009
It was the first and last time that I saw a Brambling.

The Brambling is similar in size and shape to a Chaffinch

I'm guessing female Common Eider.

I just LOOKED at that picture and my heart is racing!  I have the BIGGEST fear of snakes (and German Shepherds) and I think I would have had to wait in the car and have the Assistant come out to get me!  YIKES!   And you stuck it out to learn about this thing and his others!  WOW! 

As much as I was afraid and creeped out by them, I actually sat on the floor next to them and listened to the man. I was mesmerized and I DON'T know why. 

  It's the serpents spell that had a hold of you Donna! You're facing your fears and becoming one with them!

They have long pointed bills,webbed feet,and pointed wings for plunge diving from great heights into the ocean for fish.They nest on steep sea cliffs and rocky islands, and sometimes in trees.
