Good afternoon Rochester falcon watchers!  After a busy and exciting morning watch (7 stoops from Beauty). Dana and I left downtown about 11:30 leaving Beauty on the top Ibeam and Archer on the 4th Ibeam both tucked in the shade by the elevator shaft. Rachacha starting to heat up after a chilly start this morning. Larry spotted what we identified as a juvenile Great Blue Heron down in the river on the north side of the Broad St. bridge. The juvie Black Crowned Night Heron was over in its favorite alcove. Thanks to Joyce and Brian for giving me the North American bird book that helped us ID these birds. No sign of Callidora as I'm sure she has begun her lifes journey. Perhaps Jemison has hooked up with her along the way!   heart heart heart heart

What a wild night of falcon watching everyone. Watchers included CarolP,Joyce,BrianH,Dana, Louigi,Larry,MAK and canine watchers Abbey,Casey and Cleo.
I received a text message from Joyce around 5:00 that she and Brian were at his new apartment and could see a falcon on either HSBC or Xerox(can't recall which). Carol had Beauty and Archer on the north side of OCSR. So naturally I beat feet downtown. As I stopped at a red light before the HSBC building I grabbed my trusty binocs and to my surprise I saw a falcon on the roof back in a ways with a very brown chest. Could it be Calidora or even Jemison! I went in the Frontier parking lot to find CarolP. She had what appeared to be a tiercel on Xerox. We weren't able to locate the possible juvenile falcon again.
Carol,Brian and Joyce all agreed the tiercel did not look like Archer. We had 3 and possibly 4 falcons there tonight. Beauty and Archer chased 1 out of the area. At times it was very hard to keep up. A short while later we had what seemed to be 3 adults in the air at once just flying and not really showing any aggression. They would dissappear behind HSBC and at the end of the watch we were left with Beauty on HSBC and Archer on Xerox.
This was the most exciting watch we've had in awhile and it certainly gave us food for thought. It is the start of migration time and anything can happen in the days and weeks to come. So keep your eyes to the skys people. I know I will!   heart heart heart heart
