16  Anything Else / Totally OT / Help Please? Kodak Online 9/11 Memorial on: 11-Sep-10, 08:03:03 PM
Shortly after 9/11 I remember Kodak had a memorial online of photographs and stories from family members of 9/11 victims and survivors. You could post a picture and then tell the story of your loved one who was at the WTC that day. I submitted my neices story and picture and all these years later I wanted to look it up but I can't find it anyplace. I thought it was to remain a virtual memorial for 9/11. If anyone here that works for Kodak could tell me where those pictures and stories are online I would so appreciate it Smiley Thanks!

Ex-soldier jailed for stealing rare falcon eggs
By RAPHAEL G. SATTER โ€“ 1 hour ago
LONDON โ€” A former special forces soldier was jailed Thursday for attempting to sneak out of Britain with a stash of 14 rare peregrine falcon eggs hidden in socks strapped to his body.
Jeffrey Lendrum, 48, was trying to get to Dubai, where falconry is a national sport and such eggs can fetch 5,000 pounds ($11,000) each on the black market. He was caught when a cleaner spotted him behaving suspiciously in a business class lounge at Birmingham International Airport on May 3.
Lendrum originally told police he was carrying store-bought chicken eggs, which he said he used to treat a bad back, but he pleaded guilty Thursday at Warwick Crown Court in western England, standing with his arms crossed and his head bowed for nearly the entire hearing.
Prized in falconry for their phenomenal speed โ€” they are thought to reach up to 200 miles (320 kilometers) per hour when they dive โ€” the birds are a protected species under British law, which bars their export.
Judge Christopher Hodson said Lendrum's crime hurt not only the local area "but in some measure to the planet and its future" and sentenced him to 30 months in jail.
Lendrum, an Irish citizen, has previous convictions for stealing rare eggs in Canada and Zimbabwe. A former member of the special forces of Rhodesia, as Zimbabwe was known before its independence, he has apparently put his military training to use โ€” at various points either rappelling down a cliff or lowering himself from a helicopter to reach particularly remote nests.
Guy Shorrock, with The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds, said he believed Lendrum had been stealing eggs for years.
"It's clearly very lucrative," he said. "He has a very good buyer in the Middle East for these birds and he probably receives tens of thousands of pounds (dollars) for his trouble."
Retired police officer Andy McWilliam, who worked on the case for the National Wildlife Crime Unit, said he was hoping to meet Lendrum behind bars to learn more about his tactics.
As for the eggs themselves, quick-thinking police made sure they were kept warm. Eleven out of the 14 have hatched, and most of the falcon chicks have since been returned to wild.

What's with the dude on the left?

pretty much what I said in the previous post. That's just a stage he's going through.
I guess the head retracts into the body for a while during this part of development, so as to create more pressure to inflate the big feet. It will pass.

2funny Dale I'm LMAO at that one and you typed it with such a straight face 2funny
28  Rochester Falcons / Rochester Falcon Discussion / Re: The New Streaming Video with Sound is Great ! on: 24-May-10, 11:32:02 PM
The streaming video is great, and it has finally enticed my lovely wife into sharing the falcon semi-addiction I have experienced for the past seven years. The accompanying staccato, twitterish  chat, however, makes me long for the insight and substance of the old yahoo-based forum postings.

The social stream is really not geared toward insightful comments; there are simply not enough characters available.  It's true purpose is to drive traffic to the Ustream.tv website, since every message posted on the Social Stream chat is mirrored on one or more social networking sites, and includes a link to the video stream on the Ustream page.

Unfortunately right now it seems like there's a lot of speculation and outright incorrect information being posted on the social chat.  The problem is that new viewers might see it and think that it's accurate.  I suppose that's par for the course though, when it's open to anyone who wants to log on...

The best we can do is to direct people to the Forum, Imprints or one of our other sections for more in-depth information.

You'd probably have a lot better information getting out there if there was information about the Falcons posted below chat along with the main websites address link. I see it on most if not all the other Ustream sites. I hesitate putting the home pages address in my posts because their are so many spam links claiming to be links to information about the Falcons being posted when they hatched using tiny url.
