I've met a LOT of fishermen in my day, but the ice fishermen are the most "interesting".  Daddy used to ice fish on Greenwood Lake.  Daddy didn't built a hut - Daddy set his rigs and walked off the ice, accross the street and hung out at a buddy's house with binocs until the little flags went up!

I loved Ice fishing   steff when I was young. We skated while we fished and when we got thirsty, we drank from the fishing hole   sick-298 ..OMG....I can't believe we did that.
eeeeeeewwwwwwww!    surprise

1400  Anything Else / Totally OT / river of blackbirds on: 02-Jan-10, 02:25:14 PM
I had a river of blackbirds fly over my house this morning. It was so cool. I don't know how else to describe it. Had to be over 1000 birds. It went from as far as I could see north to as far as I could see south. Took around 5 minutes or more. Not sure how many went by before I noticed them. They just kept coming and coming. It was so neat. I saw long tails on some so I am thinking grackles, not sure about the rest. Red Wings and starlings maybe.  clap

Ms. Francoeur’s team killed 1,093 birds this year, a record (sound so proud of themselves)

That is a heck of a lot of birds and this is just one airport.

There has to be a better way.  crying

Okay got a question. Ms. Francoeur says

BIRDS OF PREY Falcons are not supposed to actually kill birds, but they do from time to time. “It’ll go for retraining,”
Then she goes on to say
SHOTGUNS  Shooters are trained and retrained on what birds they can shoot and which are protected.

So if the Shooters have to be retrained does that mean that they ARE shooting protected birds?

 confused

To all you wonderful, funny people here, I want to wish you all a very Merry Christmas.

I'm missing Mariah and Kaver, so my greeting is well...them.

I hope wherever they are, they are safe, warm and happy. I pray they both do well this coming Spring and maybe find each other again. That would be the best gift ever. Thank you all for another great year.

Blessings to you and yours,

Donna

I believe (this IS the Season for Believing) that Donna says it best, so I will simply repeat, Merry Christmas to an amazing group of people who have a common interest in Mariah and Kaver, yet aren't bound to only that interest.  Planes, trains, and automobiles are not uncommon here.

Merry Christmas to you and yours and may God protect you and our beloved falcons,
Janet and Rich

from your lips to GOD's ear

Merry Christmas everyone!

As golden eagles hunt

One of them managed to evade, second golden eagle has seized claws a back. The press photographer has got off an easy fright and the damaged jacket.
