46  Rochester Falcons / Rochester Falcons News / Re: The Eyas Naming Polls are Open on: 09-Jun-14, 06:25:05 PM
Our dog answers to Goofus more than Sparky....

Ok I don't understand.  Males are males, females are females (so far I understand), but I thought gender-neutral was if another name was needed or it wasn't determined for sure on male/female.  If a male would be Mercury, why would a female go by the gender-neutral name and not the female name that came out on top?  I realize Genesee was second by total votes, but why use a name designated at gender-neutral if it didn't have to be?  It just doesn't seem right.  nono

Glad she is OK....still feel bad for her. Those man Eagles!!!

Me too. I couldn't believe he abandoned her to take up with new female after everything they've both been through this past year.
I'm hoping it's her, but really can't tell from the picture.  Why do people keep saying Larry abandoned her?  It's just like the peregrines and Lucy may have beat a lot of odds in the last year, but she sure couldn't fight another big female and males most times would fight the males.  Male eagles pick a nest spot and do a lot of the building and share it with their female.  He was protecting and staying with his nest.  We see the peregrines fight and whichever one wins stays with the mate that is there already, both the male and female don't leave normally.  I hate to see what happened and do worry about her, but we all know from the sounds of things she also was not the original Lucy, what happened to the first one?  I'm sorry, I'm not directing this at you Kris, or anyone in particular, just venting about the situation.  I DO hope someone can find and get a good picture of Lucy just so we know.  Sad

Oh neat!!  I've never seen a merlin and you get one right on your step and happened to look out and see it.  I could see him just fine in your picture, but if you do have some you want to put in an album we wouldn't turn them down  Wink

How you doing?

The USDA located and removed a 9th nest on Feb. 6th.  So sad for this pair...   crying
DAMN them, how can they keep doing this, it obviously isn't accomplishing a thing.  Sad

Usually it's morning or later afternoon as the sun starts setting, although I saw one this noon, not the whole ark, but the one off to the side.  Ice crystals in the air.   (ooops arc)

Looks like a neat building, but it would have been wonderful fixed up.  Odd someone was up on the third floor that had to jump unless he broke in and was sleeping their for some place to go being it was empty or the owner has had it and had something done for insurance money, the taxes were current.
