Yes it does Donna.  Even though Virginia took the eagles off one list they're still on the federal list for migratory birds.  Do we see them trying to eliminate geese and everything else that is around there?  Everything is about that pair of eagles. 

Not really.  When reviewed they're within their rights as far as the permit and they are going to continue taking them down and E on A is going to continue fighting it.

A huge thank you to David Goodfellow who spent the time to find us, we may now have someone very close to the Scarborough Yellow pages nest site that has some elevation (and very close to the peregrines winter roosting spot)!

WELCOME LITTLE "STAR" THIS MORNING!!!

Star hatched at Lake of the Ozarks this morning about 24 hours after Ozark did yesterday.  There are lots of videos and pictures of the kids at their FaceBook page:

The best news I saw so far though is......drum roll.........Elsie & Einstein at Lake of the Ozarks has a hatch as of 7:47 AM this morning!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Stein comes home with a fish and eats it, Elsie leaves, and Steins takes over the day duty.  Getting all settled in Stein gets his foot caught in the egg shell, but that doesn't surprise me as klutzy as he is.    Nest time of video is 9:07am and Ozark is 75 minutes old.

Whew! Wolf River owl eggs look intact after repeated attacks on Mom Owl

There was some concern that the eggs were damaged in the attacks on Bonnie the last few nights.  Tonight the cam operator zoomed in and they look to be intact.  Yeah!   Although there is certainly another concern about the time she spends off the eggs.  It is not uncommon for her to be off the eggs from 20-40 minutes at a time.  Not knowing a thing about Great Horned Owls, I don’t know what is normal.  But hoping that this is not a problem!

To the best of my knowledge like you said, it was George & Martha (the eagles) nest.  I'm thinking they head further south in the winter because I'd seen a comment about them being due back soon and people weren't sure what would happen and hoped it was before the owls had their eggs laid.

I hadn't see the comment about GHO nearby that wanted them out of their territory, but it could make a lot of sense!

I particularly like the one of Orville and Orion.  There is a lot of detail, as in the sky reflected in his eyes, but it still has the flowing, free feeling that makes good watercolors so pleasant to look at.  A real treat on a grey day - reminds me of summer, sunshine, and young falcons!
