The male at this nest site is DF, born in 2008 at the de Mortel nest, one of the first chicks of Pa and S2. He has been at Veldhoven for some years now.
The resident female is banded AF. She was born in 2009 at the Mönchengladbach nest in Germany (also known as the Niederkrüchten-Elmpt nest).
I think the egg on the right has a good-sized pip.
I thought this was an update, Donna, but this is a second hawk shot with an arrow.
The first hawk was shot in Canon City, Colorado. This one is in Red Lion, Pennsylvania. I checked on the locations in case there was a connection, but they are a long way from each other.
I'd like to see the sick individuals who shot these birds lose their freedom for a long time.
