The male at this nest site is DF, born in 2008 at the de Mortel nest, one of the first chicks of Pa and S2. He has been at Veldhoven for some years now.

The resident female is banded AF. She was born in 2009 at the Mönchengladbach nest in Germany (also known as the Niederkrüchten-Elmpt nest).

I think the egg on the right has a good-sized pip.

It ended at 8:13.  24 minutes!   2thumbsup

That was a great standoff! Beauty showed a lot of patience. Loved her facial expressions as well as DC's.

The chicks are hatching! More grandchildren for Pa and S2!

Just caught this glimpse before they were covered again:

A very short update from Sarvey Wildlife Center on the Bothell eagle.

April 8, 2016

The Bothell eagle that was stuck in the tree is doing well in the larger enclosure. She was not interested in having an exam this week by our vet.

Looks as if she is using both feet well now and standing normally. Also looks as if she wants to go home soon.

I thought this was an update, Donna, but this is a second hawk shot with an arrow.

The first hawk was shot in Canon City, Colorado. This one is in Red Lion, Pennsylvania. I checked on the locations in case there was a connection, but they are a long way from each other.

I'd like to see the sick individuals who shot these birds lose their freedom for a long time.

The parents seem to work very well together to care for the chicks.

At least three chicks have hatched. I can't tell yet whether or not the fourth egg has hatched.

The first egg sitting chart of 2016!

Interesting tidbit...of the 12 days of egg sitting, 9 days have had 8 shift changes!

Thank you, Dumpsterkitty. This is very interesting, and so well compiled and displayed!

Absolutely wow, Donna! Great photo of a beautiful juvie. Was just about to go over to CPF to search when I saw that you had already found the bands! Great sleuthing, Donna!

This is such wonderful news! I am so happy to see one of last year's juvies doing well.
