I read that one of Polly and Algo's babies has been injured and rescued. Depending on injury, may not fly again? I think you are referring to Achille, Polly and Algo's son and Amazone's brother? Achille has recovered and has been released. July 2 2015 News of Achille (Polly and Algo's son)! Thanks to the great care he received at the UQROP clinic, he has been released in the area of the Turcot Interchange. He was seen today with his parents and his sister, and it seems that the whole family is doing well so far. More news and a complete report from Richard to come. And from Richard: The report is as follows:
Achille, the male juvenile who had a collision with a window on his second flight, one day after having fledged, was rescued and sent to the UQROP clinic for birds of prey as a precautionary measure, and after detailed examination, it was noted that the juvenile had a weakness in his left wing.
He will stay at the clinic in the company of a male foster parent, who will feed and care for him until he has recovered.
Once it had been determined that the juvenile was in good shape and able to fly again, a release was carried out by SEF in the area of the Interchange. The release was not made public, at least in part for the safety and wellbeing of the bird. Achille has been flying well, and playing with his sister.

It was believed that Éole and his mate Ève were raising three chicks at St-Marc's church, but as of today it has been confirmed that there are actually four chicks! So despite losing his battle with Arthurin, it has been a good year for Éole.

Peregrine Update: It's a boy! X-ray reports have revealed that the falcon is a male. We have also received the results from initial blood tests which have all been normal. We are still waiting for the reports from the lead test, but the bird is gaining weight & his flight feathers continue to grow. We will continue to provide public updates on the peregrine as soon as new information develops, but are unable to respond to individual inquiries about this patient. https://www.facebook.com/animalrescuelg Video of Silver, the boy!! he has such a darling face!! I bet he misses his momma!! Thank you so much for the update, Donna! I always thought Silver was male. The test results are encouraging, as is the fact that his feathers are continuing to come in and he is gaining weight. I wonder if they have considered testing for insecticides, pesticides or herbicides, all of which can cause seizures. Little Silver is absolutely beautiful. I am sure he misses his Mom, and that she misses him. Dorothy did such an incredible job of caring for him every minute of every day. I think he looks a little more settled and less scared than when he first arrived at the facility. And in the video he is balancing well on one foot.

A second update on Skye. She has now been transferred to another facility. Comet Adjusts to Being an Only Child & Skye on the Road to Recovery
July 7, 2015
Life goes on for the Utica Peregrine Falcon family. Comet seems to have adjusted to being an only child. For a few days after Skye’s accident he seemed to become more sedentary – recalling for us what he was like for the five days after he fledged. This time it was just that he was lacking a brother to lure him into flying games. Soon enough though he was back to careening around the canyon and regularly displacing both his father and mother from their perches. With one fledgling certainly easier to provide for than three, Astrid and Ares’ jobs have become a bit easier. There is now typically a surplus of prey in the pantries and often enough the birds have full crops. Meanwhile Skye was transferred from Woodhaven Wildlife Center in Chadwicks to Kindred Kingdoms Wildlife Center in Pennellville. At the latter facility there is a flight cage where Skye’s flying ability can be accessed. With luck he will be able to be released to his family by the end of the week. Fledge Watch Volunteers, please stand by!What a beauty she is. Photo from the Utica site.

An update on Skye from the site:
Skye to be Flight Tested
July 7, 2015
Skye is doing well at the rehabilitator. Jean expects to flight test him today! If all goes well, we will try to reunite him with his family this week. We will need volunteers to be on hand for the release and for a few days after the release. Please watch the Fledge Watch Page and Facebook for updates…
I hope Skye will make a full recovery. I am so sorry about the loss of Orion.

I am so sorry to hear of the loss of little Mel. It was heartbreaking to read Mark Nash's account of what happened on the CPF site. It is so true that it never gets any easier to lose one of these beautiful birds. First Glider, and now Mel . . . way too many losses this year. Some sad news to report. We have lost a second fledgling.
July 07, 2015 - Etobicoke - Sun Life Centre
Mark Nash Reports:
Tuesday July 7th - 2015
I have some sad news to report. Just after 3pm this afternoon, I received a telephone call from the security team at the Kingsway’s on the park condo’s explaining that one of the young peregrine falcons had found its way into one of the upper floor condo units after entering the 10th story condo suite through an open window.
Back into the car and west bound again out to the Etobicoke Bloor & Islington where I was met by the Kingsway’s condo security, and directed to a 10th floor condo unit in the west tower. As I was let into the condo unit by the owners,, along with the Condo superintendent and another member of the security team, I could clearly see what all of the excitement was about. Yes, it was little Mel, one of the young male fledgling peregrines that was produce at the Etobicoke nest site this year. The same young fledgling (named Mel) that Marion and I had attended to, several nights ago at yet another condo building after he was trapped on the balcony behind the glass balcony front.
This time, Mel was observed standing in between the inner window sill and the white sheer drapes, obviously a little more than confused about the glass and what all of the attention and excitement was about.
Sadly although, with one eye closed, and with his other eye half closed with some very shallow breathing as he leaned up against the glass to support himself, it was more than obvious that Mel had sustained some serious injuries, likely as a result of having had a collision with the outer concrete wall prior to grabbing on to the outer window sill and eventually gaining access to the condo through the open window.
Without any struggle, a movement or objection, I was able to simply pick Mel up with my open cupped hands and carried him out of the condo suite, down the hallway, into the elevator and finally out to the car without the need of a net or even a towel. Moments after I placed him on the passenger set of the car, and even before I could get seated in the drivers seat and fasten my seat belt, Mel closed his other eye and simply stopped breathing as he laid on the passenger seat.
I have to admit, I had to wipe the tears from my eyes over the next few minutes before I could even start the car. A older couple exiting a car as they were coming into the condo’s main entrance stopped and knocked on my car window to ask if I was ok, as I guess my outward bust of emotions had got the better of me.
You would think that at almost 60 years old, and after 20 years of dealing with allot of mortality, that you would get used to it, but I have to tell you, that you never really get used to this sort of thing at all,,, (at least I don’t, and I probably never will). Another teary eye moment alone in the car with a baby peregrine, and some deep thought as to just how fragile life is, and how it can end in a blink of a eye.
Over the next two hours as I made my way home, both frustrated and enraged with the incredible traffic congestion as a result of the rush hour traffic being reduced from three lanes down into two lanes because of the new temporary HOV lanes, and heartbroken over the entire situation, you can’t help but feel absolutely helpless about the entire situation.
As sad as it sounds, in reflection, I am actually relieved that little Mel actually passed away prior to my actual departure, as I can only imagine how I would have felt, had I been forced to deal with the bumper to bumper traffic for over two hours going nowhere quick while trying to get the little guy to emergency veterinary services!!!
I can only hope that I don’t have many more of these calls, as it can be a little overwhelming at times.

An update on Sandy from the CPF:
The Sheraton Airshow is On!
July 08, 2015 - Toronto - Sheraton Centre
Harry Crawford Reports:
Alex and I met at the Sheraton Centre at 10am. Nothing was visible from ground level so we went up to Sheraton 43. An adult was on the northwest corner of 130 Adelaide W. A few minutes later, we saw a bird flying high and to the south. It circled back and headed towards us. It was Sandy! She was close enough to see her dark chest and appeared to head for the Sheraton roof. Down to street level south of 120 Adelaide W we went. Alex spotted her head just to the right of the swing stage. She remained there until workers appeared on the roof behind her. She took off and headed towards Scotia Plaza and mom joined her. She was so high and flying like an adult.
We were about to call it a day and thought of dropping by Osgoode Hall and bring Irena up to date. We were on the sidewalk on University Ave. just west of Osgood Hall when Alex spotted an adult, Rhea-Mae, on Canada Life just below the weather beacon. Sandy comes in from the south and mom joins her. Then in comes Tiago and we have an airshow. What a spectacular fifteen minutes of flying. At times they were quite high. Alex spotted Sandy talon touching with mom. It was just luck that we were there to see this as they are now all over the place.
I would have loved to see all three flying together. So glad Sandy is doing well.

From the Canadian Peregrine Foundation today:
April 04, 2015 - Scarborough - Yellow Pages
Tracy Simpson Reports:
Yesterday Bruce Massey was out at the Yellow Pages nest site and found both of the adults at home… …with company. A third bird, identified as a female, briefly entered the territory and was fully escorted out by the pair. The resident adults quickly returned and copulated on the nest building cementing their bond and intent. Although Bruce was unable to confirm band numbers yesterday he was able to see that the female was wearing a black over green recovery band with a silver USFW which is consistent with Linn. He will continue to work on confirming identities this week.

EtobicokeO'Connor and her new mate Lucky have their first egg this morning. Congratulations to them! Just saw that on CPF..congrats to them but I thought I read that Jack was still the resident there. I wonder if Carly could give us an update if he's still at his other site. I have been wondering about Jack too — whether he is okay, and if he is still at his other site. I thought Lucky had taken over here. Or did Jack take this nest back again? From the CPF site: First Egg for O’Connor and Lucky April 04, 2015 - Etobicoke - Sun Life Centre
Kathy Reports:
Laid overnight under the cover of darkness! This morning there is an egg in the nest tray!
