31  Rochester Falcons / Falcon Watches / Re: Pics from today watch on: 23-Jan-11, 08:31:41 PM
Glad folks like the pics.  It was one of those rare wow moments for me !

Margaret, I was close to the Pefa and comfortable to say it was probably a female, but I have no confidence in size comparison with Beauty.  Tough to tell without seeing the two together.  I was definitely shooting from inside my car, with my window half open.  Both the falcon and the Mergansers would quickly leave the area if I opened my car door and got out.  Luckily they were okay with the camera clicks.  flash

Thanks for letting us use the area MAK. happy
Here's an album of pics I took on watch Saturday Dec. 18th, with a few pics of 2 falcons early, and finishing with Beauty and the Red-tailed hawk on Time Square.  Hope you enjoy.

I finally gathered pictures from last weekends events.  Here's some pics or the unbanded juvie I was lucky enough to watch eating a pigeon at lunch, and a gull for dinner last Friday.   I work in the area and have checked each day this week but was unable to spot the falcon again.  Was it just passing through our area, or has it learned to stay away from me  Wink

Warning, the first 10 pics are not for those with a weak stomach.

I finally gathered pictures from last weekends events.  Here are a few not so good pics I was able to get of the 3 falcons from last Sunday.  All 3 were briefly around the jail tower.

Hi folks! We had a little excitement tonight in Rochester. There was a tiercel flying with Beauty. We weren't sure if it was Archer come back from wherever he's been. Dana and I agree that it was a juvie male migrating through. The falcon on the east side of Xerox looked like Beauty to me and Dana thought so too( judging by her pics). Therefore I have to believe Beauty was in her favorite spot 5th column south side of Xerox when I left for the night. If Archer was in town he would have been with her on Xerox.  This is my humble opinion. Good night and I'll see you bright and early in the morning! heart heart heart heart

Here's an album of the pics mentioned in MAK's report.  Thanks for sharing the report MAK !

I just spoke to Carol having watched Jemison flapping out of the cam1 shot, and she has here in sight.  Jemison is on the ledge where the Main camera sets but just further down closer to cam 1 position.

Already checked - Rhea Mae's red taped fledging last year was Sandy.  Her band is 97/X, therefore it does not look to be her.

Jeanne,  Your visitor may be a Red-breasted Nuthatch.  Did it look anything like this ?
