Great pics and narative Dana! Correct me if I'm wrong, but the only confirmation falcon is Beauty and maybe last years couple?
the only confirmed one is Beauty. There was never a positive ID on last years wintering pair so I would say no way to say if they are the same ones or not. but hey I'm in Ohio so what do I know Actually, with last years winter pair the female had bands - silver on the right, black over green on the left - but we were never able to get a confirmed reading of the bands. The male had no bands. Here's some pics from last years pair. Some nice shots of the female in this album: Winter Watch - Jan. 12th, 2009 http://tinyurl.com/9rgxqqAnd some nice shots of the male in this album: Winter Watch - Dec. 1st, 2008 http://tinyurl.com/yf3tgcqDana

I headed downtown Thanksgiving morning and immediately spoted a falcon on the Mercury statue about 9:45am. It looked like Beauty. I watched her for about an hour when she took off heading straight down towards the west out of my sight. I was unable to track her down after that. About 11:50am today, Lou and I watched a juvenile Peregrine Falcon on a communication tower in a parking lot on the south side of East Ridge Rd, across the street from the Georgetown Plaza. After about 5 minutes, the falcon took off west towards the Keeler Park Apts. We headed down to the Walmart parking lot and looked all around but were unable to see the falcon again. Here's pictures from both watches. http://tinyurl.com/yazafjj

I haven't seen Mariah at the Medley Center or St. Ann's or anywhere else in Irondequoit since Oct. 30th. I have seen lots of Red-tailed Hawks and Coopers Hawks and even a Kestrel. In the last week I was only able to get downtown this past Saturday, and was lucky enough to catch a quick flyover by (I believe) "Beauty". Here are some pics of my early Nov. adventures. Beauty's pics are 25-30 in the album: http://tinyurl.com/ybak3kjLou and I also took a roadtrip to the Iroquois National Wildlife Refuge this past Saturday. We spent a wonderful day with a pair of eagles at Ringneck Marsh. I hope they stay the winter. Here are some pics from our trip: http://tinyurl.com/yaru6gqThe new Kodak Gallery is very slow, so I would suggest after logging in for the albums, that you log into the Kodak Gallery Classic (old software) to view the slideshows. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Hi folks. I did a once around the mall before work this morning around 7am and did not see a falcon. While at work I peeked out and confirmed with a zoom of my camera that a falcon was again on the peak around 9. It was still there at 10 when I had to go to Wegmans on East Ridge Road - east of the mall - around 10 for work. When I was leaving Wegmans, I noticed pidgeons going wild at the plaza south of Wegmans. While driving, I saw one speedy bird with larger wings than a pidgeon in the mix. When I was able to pull safely over, I did a look around the area but was unable to spot any raptors enjoying a meal. When I arrived back at work, the falcon was no longer at the mall. I did not see the falcon the rest of the day during various peeks. Here's pics of Mariah from Saturday. Hope you enjoy. http://tinyurl.com/yg6gbtl
