OH, noooooo, Lou! Looks like I just "infringed" on your topic!!! Ooops! paperbag

Slainte!

Bobbie

Don't worry Bobbie. According to the rules of topic etiquette, section 18.4, subsection C, it's only the FIRST person who creates the tangent that is at fault. Sort of like the first person in a convoy making a wrong turn; everybody behind him (or HER in this case) just naturally follows.

So, Lou..'dja hear the one about the sarcastic fringehead and the mink?
A sarcastic fringehead and a mink go into a bar. Mink says to the huge, tattooed male bartender, "Hey, Lucille ...

I did hear that one Dale. And I think that the joke is certainly within the boundaries of this topic. (Unlike another certain mink post from another certain person which ONLY speaks to the mink.)

My, my, my.  You're being very sarcastic.    crazy

Aha! The guilty one speaks first. Carol the Topic-Stealer. Yep, I got you now. Now, get outta here and go create a mink topic.

Hey! Whole stole my topic? This is the Sarcastic Fringehead topic, not the freakin' Mink discussion topic. For crying out loud, go get yer own topic! We're talking more 'mink' than 'sarcastic fringehead' here because of you. C'mon - who did it? Fess up.

I think it's an adult. And it has a blond squirrel in its talons.

MAK snapped this pic yesterday of Callidora having fun flying around. Thanks MAK!

I have some blond squirrels in my neighborhood too, MAK. One of them walks her dog every morning right past my house.

Yes, I believe albinos are white/lacking color pigment. I think they usually have pink eyes too.

Lou

clap Cute little video Lou. I have a couple blonde squirrels in my neighborhood. I don't know if they are classified as Albino which are usually white, right? ???

Nice weekend! I think we had almost 15 out of towners and there were some new local faces in the crowd. I tried getting pictures of those who weren’t already in the Falcon Watcher’s album. Hopefully, I got everyone’s name correct. If not, let me know.

I wanted to send a big ‘thanks’ out to my fellow Rochester peeps and to others who brought food to the Tailgater Breakfast – we had enough food for both days. I sampled everything! (BTW, I give the homemade pastry blue ribbon to MAK for her Pumpkin Roll.)

I think Aqueduct Park worked out great. I knew it was going to be good as soon as the Rochester Falcons themselves gave us a Saturday morning welcome fly-by directly over the river in front of us at exactly 9:00 am.  The old pedestrian bridge was nice, but it was as if the new family was formally welcoming us to a new era. And it was nice to be close to the hotels, the restaurants, restrooms, etc. The lunch walk to the Dinosaur Bar B Q worked out well - some people were able to get a table and eat inside (with the air conditioning) and the rest of us just brought our bagged take-out meals back to the park to eat in the shade. The Planetarium trip was somewhat thwarted by the fifteen thousand people blocking the streets near the Planetarium but most people managed to get through the crowds to see the Falcons of Toronto movie.  Oh well, we’ll do better planning next year!

Saturday night was just plain beautiful though; we couldn’t have asked for a more perfect summer evening. And although I couldn’t avoid getting roped into Brian’s Falcon Dance, Sunday was just as nice!

At any rate, It’s a different venue with a different family of birds, but Watcher’s Weekend has always been one of my favorite parts of the season here in Rochester and this year was no exception.

Glad everybody made it home safe and sound. Hope to see even more visitors next year!

A few of us here have been discussing how we might better organize things for this weekend and this is what we have so far:

We'll definitely have a Saturday Morning Get -Together at Aqueduct Park at 9:00 am.  Here's a link to Eileen's map  (zoom in and find the marker with the green arrow on the west side of the river). At the park, the local Rochester Falcon Watchers will do it up Tailgater Style (ie, dish-to-pass) where we'll each bring something to share. The list below has what we have so far (see list below**). If other locals want to bring something, please post it here.  At the park, we'll have a downtown street map available with a `Falcon Trail' marked on it showing various locations where the falcons may be. We're going to be at the falcon's mercy – they could be anywhere!  If you have a walkie-talkie – bring it and set it to channel 7.1 so we can share whereabouts and events.

For those that want to experience the Dinosaur Bar-B-Q, we'll plan on doing lunch there and our thinking is that take-out is the way to go. We think that a large group and other weekend activities in Rochester will make it difficult for reservations – even at lunch.  We can bring our lunches back to Aqueduct park or if there are picnic tables at the Dinosaur, we can eat right there outside.

As far as Saturday evening activities, there are several options for folks:

*  Lisa McK is collecting names of people who want to go see the Falcons of Toronto/Dolphins (double feature) video at 4:00 p.m. at the Strasenburgh Planetarium which is only several blocks from downtown. I plan on going to that too.  Hopefully, we'll have enough locals there to transport visitors if they need rides. That group can then decide if and where they want to go and grab something to eat before returning downtown for the evening watch. Here's a link to the Strasenburgh Planetrium  sitehttp://www.rmsc.org/StrasenburghPlanetarium/Schedule/

*  Another option is that there's a Baseball Game at Frontier Field with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra playing music to fireworks after the game. That's an easy option because the ballpark offers some good choices for food.  The game starts at 6:05. Prices are $6.50, $9.00 or $10.50.  Here's a link to the Rochester Red Wings  Site: http://rochester.redwings.milb.com/index.jsp?sid=t534

* Another option is for people to simply hook up with a local (loco?) and create their own plans for the evening!

We’ll also meet at Aqueduct Park on Sunday morning (9:00 am) but we won’t be doing a formal food thing. There might be some stuff, but best bet would be for folks to grab something to eat beforehand.

**Who's Bringing what to the Saturday Tailgater Breakfast (so far…) LOCALS – Add to this list please! Thx
•   Suzanne - Bagels , cream cheese
•   Lynda/Tim - A cool pastry/coffee cake thing (and tattoos!)
•   Joyce - Cut-up fruit, small bowls and spoons.
•   Lou - Coffee (2 boxes of Joe from Dunkin' Donuts) w/ cups, sugar, stir sticks, etc.
•   Jeanne - Juice, cups, something sweet and probably something else
•   Carol P. - Plates, Forks, Knives, Napkins, etc.

Looking forward to seeing everyone!
