Clever site, Jeanne. I like the 'Bad Hair Day' post.

Emma is gorgeous as are all the other educational birds at Braddock.  I had no idea that they had a Peregrine.  Glad that you and Dana made it out there yesterday and thanks for posting these beautiful pictures Lou.

We didn't know either, Carol. I looked up the BBRR flyer about 2:00 pm yesterday:
http://www.bbrr.org/RT%20Days%2009%20Flyer.pdf

I told Dana that we had missed the Peregrine showing at 1:00 pm. (If we had known this while we were all sitting at KP, we all probably would have went down.) Dana and I arrived at 3:00, expecting only to see the Live Bird of Prey presentation, but we weren't expecting the falcon.

I found out just a little more about Emma. She was born and raised as a falconer's bird and was part of a breeding program. I don't know more than that though.

After a beautiful morning, in which Dana and I did some watching with Carol, Brian, Don, Suzanne, Jeanne, and Joyce at Kodak Park, we headed to Braddocks Bay where we were treated to a live raptor demonstration by the folks at Braddocks Bay Raptor Research.  I had heard rumors that this group had dissolved, but they were there today with several raptors, including a Red Shouldered Hawk, a Golden Eagle, and our favorite, a Peregrine Falcon.

Emma, now where have we seen her before? Her name sounds familiar. She is pretty Lou as are all the rest of the flock. Thanks for sharing your day.  thumbsup Redtails are beautiful up close.

Donna

I'm not sure, Donna. Perhaps one of our other watchers here know more about her.

Not negative - Klutz!  Look it up in Webster's - you see a big picture of me  happy

You know I'm just kidding, Janet. Especially since I am captain of the Klutz club, myself!

Came across this site. You can upload your own short video of you doing the moonwalk and add it to the mix. I was amazed at how many people from so many different countries have contributed a clip..

Speaking of large spiders, a few years back, I went to the Montezuma Wildlife Reserve with Dana, Carol, Marcia, Cathy Z, and Greg and we came across this monster spider as we walked Esker trail. This guy was huuuuge; at least three inches!   A rather larger wasp landed in his web and we watched in amazement as it went to work on it.

We later identified it as an Argiope. Apparently, these are good spiders to have in your garden because they keep pests away. (Yeah - like the neighbor's kids..)

Here are a couple of pictures.

298  Anything Else / Totally OT / Good experience with Olympus on: 20-Aug-09, 06:54:00 PM
I just wanted to share a good customer experience I had with Olympus.

Awhile back, I dropped my binoculars (Olympus Pathfinder 12x50 EXPS I) and as a result, they went out of alignment. These aren't top notch binoculars, but they cost me about $250.  I sent the company an email sharing that they were beyond warranty and asking if they could be repaired. They promptly answered me with instructions on how to send them in for repair and shared that they had a flat fee of $70 to do the repair.  I figured that the cost of the repair would be cheaper than a new pair, so I sent them in.  Today, I came home and there was a package at my front door. When I opened it, I saw that they sent me a brand new pair, even though the warranty had expired!

At any rate, I told myself that I would do some good in returning the favor by sharing that I had a good customer experience, which seems more and more like a rarity these days.

Ok Lou!  I have many glasses...
The ones with stems have wine in them
and the ones without have beer beer in them.

Are there any other types of glasses????

Ah, but have you got milk?  Well, here's your chance!   Wink

Yes - in a glass BOTTLE in the 'fridge :-)

And what do you pour that milk into from that bottle in your fridge? Your beer and wine glasses?
How uncouth!

Just kiddin'.  Actually, here's a clue if you want to get the milk glass at the end of this game:

"May I please get the _ _ _ _ _?"
