Oops. I might not be able to help Eileen. I checked my files and I was up on the observation deck at that time. I have pictures of Linn and Sacajawea flying in the gorge near the waterfalls and landing on the pipe near the observation deck at that time.

My guess is that it's Ananta.

Eileen,
What date was the picture taken on?

318  Rochester Falcons / Rochester Falcon Discussion / Can't get no satisfaction (falconless watch) on: 08-Aug-09, 08:53:25 PM
Dana and I went looking for falcons this afternoon. We ran into Carol at Kodak Park but we didn't see any falcons there. We drove to the Maplewood park area and checked out Hawkeye. No falcons there either. We looked on the Seneca Tower Building. Nada. We then traveled downtown and checked out OCSR, the Times Square building, and every other building (well almost). No falcons. We then went to the bridge and saw a Red Tailed Hawk hanging out on the gorge wall, but had no sightings of any falcons.  Desperate, I snapped a few pictures of where our juvies used to hang out and asked Baron to fill in some space to help me get some level of satisfaction. Here he is with his commentary...

Sorry to hear about your Mother. Glad to hear she's got her sense of humor. She's a trooper!

This is actually beautiful. A real concert with a real orchestra with a cat really playing the piano.

Funny Donna.  I'd like to hear Carol's Mockingbird and the Lyrebird get into a conversation with each other.

Thanks for sharing. Back when I worked at Kodak, we hosted a group of people from Alcoa for a benchmarking effort. I wonder if they were inspired by the Kodak webcam from that visit?  Hmmm..

They have the Kodak webcam in their links.  The link goes to the Kodak website, but the Kodak website links back into this site.

It's funny. A few years ago, I came across a website for helping people identify where in the United States would be the best place for them to live. I plugged in all the answers to their questions (hobbies, weather preferences, job market, etc.) and the website came back with 'Boise, Idaho'. I'd love to go and check the area out someday.

It's near Snake River Birds of Prey National Conservation Area. After doing some research, I found, "Congress established the Snake River Birds of Prey National Conservation Area (NCA) in 1993 to protect North America's, and possibly the world's, largest concentration of birds of prey. They include bald and golden eagles, several species of owls, peregrine falcons, prairie falcons, kestrel, merlin, and others. The NCA covers 485,000 acres along 81 miles of the river canyon. In addition to nesting habitat along canyon walls that tower up to 600 feet high, this area includes 420,000 acres of critical prey habitat."

The only deterrent?

Snakes.

Paul,  I like that you use a tripod when you shoot. This was a peaceful, enjoyable watch.  Thanks for sharing.

PS - I like the poop shot near the start.

Eileen,

Baron is a 'he'. He's a fictional character that any falcon can model for - male or female.

Lou

Don't tell anybody, but the model for Baron is actually Linn, one of the GALS from 2007..

And this emoticon is perfect for those tempted to poke jokes about that:   nono
LOL

Well, I think she looks....noble.... hysterical
