Received this note today.
Sept 21

Joe Giunta and I (Sy Schiff) spent from 10:00 AM to noon on the top of Hook Mt. We saw all 8 species of the expected hawks, both vultures and Common Raven. Not too many hawks except for the Broad-wings. At one period, a kettle merged into another kettle and another. The sky was filled with BROAD-WINGED HAWKS and they kept coming. The count was ~900 when we left with the afternoon yet to come.

A Broad-wing flight day is always a spectacular. We lucked out.

Good birding.  Sy

Found this on NYSBIRDS-L@cornell.edu today. Amazing for such a little guy.

Since the topic of hummingbirds came up today, I thought some of you might enjoy a story I picked up on Eaglechat(alaska) this morning.  Hopefully the link will work, I found it very interesting.  Lets keep our eyes open locally.  John Haas

162  Anything Else / Totally OT / Re: Kill 'em and Eat 'em....A Great Aviation Story on: 22-Aug-10, 04:02:39 PM
that would have been cool to see. I probably would of wrecked the tractor though. Now don't get me wrong I like crows and I am sorry they got killed but weren't they asking for it just a bit? They should of chased the eagle away and then left, not keep taunting it. There is a moral in there somewhere.

Never heard of anything that ate crow. confused
