if by "big" you mean maybe thumb-sized  screeches ... but yeah, we missed the microscopic stages.

yep. I just watched (full screen) a tiny owlet sitting up in a mess of flat-out, snoring siblings, gazing at the entryway and doing that very careful head-calibration that owlets do. I'm honored . . . moved . . . and besotted.
