note that the sound is partially from the third floor reading room of the library, where the cam is. But from personal experience, the falcons will be plenty audible from there as well  hurt.

Deborah writes:

EPL webmaster David Jordan has installed the new FalconCam, featuring live picture and sound (under the disapproving and vocal scrutiny of [apparently] Squawker).

For now, we can watch it at FalconCam  Later, we'll be able to watch it at the FalconCam page on the EPL website. First though, Dave has to re-build the page and imbed the video feed there.

He's also checking into the cost of ad-free feed. In the meantime, the ads are a necessary evil.
Check it out - there's a scrape between and slightly to the left of the two uprights.

My sister had Carolina Wren babies in her boat under the tarp. Here's a pic of them

oh gosh they have the same funny mouths as my barn swallow babies used to have!

ooh. I sure would like to see those babies.

Do you have any pictures, Mary?

The Latin Mass was still on the go when we were kids (speaking of understanding...). My brothers and sisters and I used to think the Agnus Dei (Agnus Dei, qui tolis pecatta mundi...) was actually saying: "Are you staying? We call this a koatamundi..."

That's absolutely beautiful, Bobbie!!

I assume everyone is aware of the extensive mondegreen databases out there. For example:

http://www.amiright.com/misheard/
http://www.sfgate.com/joncarroll/mondegreens.shtml
http://www.kissthisguy.com/

the first site is huge - you can search by group/artist, etc.

I saw one in Austin TX over New Year's. I didn't know the bird, but wrote and asked people. I thought it was saying "Whittaker! Whittaker! Whittaker!" Paul H. answered that he guessed that what the creature was really holding forth about was "cheeseburger! cheeseburger! cheeseburger!"  Works for me. "If so," he continued,  "small, round, stick beak, stick tail, wants a cheeseburger -- Carolina Wren."
Cool round birdie.

I saw him several days in a row

Is there anything else you'd like to share with us about those "several days in a row"  whistle?

that is one nasty looking customer.

nasty, plus fake.  Prizewinning combination, except in coworkers.

that is really, really funny.
I wouldn't call it an "attack," however. If nagging could melt plastic, that owl would be a wet spot on the fence.

must be fake then.
looks fake, is fake.

in fact, I dare someone to say it's not fake.

I know, it looks really fake. Apparently it is not fake.

I love the intensity of these birds.Paul

a special cross-eyed intensity, in this case.
I've had a coopers hawk across from my window all winter, and have had a couple of close encounters with him. amazing critters. Thanks, all three of you. Four, counting Lil' Strabismus there.
