Oh for goodness' sake, Donna. Diver Dan!  This board has gone all to hell.
YES I DO most certainly remember Diver Dan. I must have seen it on the Ray Rayner show.
Ha!  Thanks. That's so weird.
962  Anything Else / Totally OT / Re: Why I hate the Taliban: reason 4326 on: 29-Jul-10, 12:21:57 PM
Did you listen to the CNN report, that was included at the end of the article?  Perhaps anyone interested should, before they go thinking such an endeavor could possibly be true...  Unfortunately, this is where rumours start, that increase people's blood pressure and feelings of hatred...  Not that I don't understand how many of you feel...with some empathy.  But I see no point in fueling the fire, with absurdities. Just my humble opinion...
Anne C. (Toronto, ON Canada)

It's actually not just your humble opinion, Anne. Thank you for a word of non-knee-jerk sanity. One should never allow unfounded gossip and rumors to make one hate.  Not only CNN says it's nonsense... even the Stars and Stripes took the time to investigate and call it untrue- http://www.stripes.com/blogs/the-rumor-doctor/the-rumor-doctor-1.104348/are-taliban-training-monkeys-to-kill-u-s-troops-1.110933

Fall will be here soon

it will NOT.

(from Chicago, where the climate is for amphibians or something. Not people.)
964  Rochester Falcons / Rochester Falcon Discussion / Callidora question on: 25-Jul-10, 03:37:51 AM
Am I correct that no one has witnessed a kill by C.? I haven't had much time to read lately...
Has she seemed to be trying to hunt in earnest yet or is she still just terrorizing ducks and branches and things?
thanks. dale

"The chicks will spend the remainder of the summer at the refuge, under the watchful eye and supervision of costumed staff from ICF and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service."

the watchful, yet costumed eye and supervision of
staff (costumed) from the International Costumed Foundation and the
U.S. Costumed Fish and
Costumed Wildlife Service, that is. Them, and their costumes.

Nothing is what is seems in Wisconsin.

Sometimes the fish is a really big one and it will drag the osprey down to drown.

Stop. Hold on. The bird will not let GO?
What mother of all design flaws are we talking about here?

thanks!...and it led me to these: (!!!)

I know that a lot of what's going on here (besides the hissing and snapping, which is self-explanatory) is the owlets just learning to use their fancy equipment, but it gives you a very...specific...feeling, doesn't it?

is that a toad or a frog? whatever it was, it was great. the whole thing was! It had representative samples: one amphibian, one juvenile falcon, one adult falcon, one yawn, one poop. Full set!  Great, Paul. Thanks!

they're very cool. so yellow.

Three out of 7 - and they just disappear...I assume predation...is anything known about who takes them?

Thanks, Gayle!
