I just spoke with someone from ROC the Day.  She may call me tomorrow for a media interview.  The more publicity could equal more donations.  Keeping my fingers crossed.

OK, so what's the best strategy here?

The best strategy is to chose a time when it is least active.  Probably in the early morning hours like midnight to 2 a.m. on 12/12/12 or 2 to 4 a.m. on 12/12/12. 

I would expect that the normal business hours 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. will be very busy.  It will probably remain busy until 9 that night at least.  Last year some of the local bars had ROC the Day parties. 

ALSO, like last year, every hour they will chose a donor as the ROC star of the hour and donate $500 to their charity. 
Lots of things to consider.  Since I am not working, I will be monitoring the site and updating the donation amounts routinely during the 24 hour periond.

We have to remember that this year we are competing with all the non-profits (hundreds of organizations) for the incentives.  Last year we were only competing with the non-profits in the environmental group (less than 50 organizations).  I'm game to give it a try.  I will also be looking for any Roc the Day parties to attend.  Maybe I can get additional donations at them.

Can we pick an hour so we can all donate in that hour?  Not to be a cheater or do anything wrong.  I wait for this to donate because of all the bonus money available !  Hope it is good this year.

I see no reason why we can't try to coordinate the 2 hour time period to try and take advantage of the bonus.  But the most important thing is to give.

30 minutes before ROC the Day started I posted about the chance to win $5,000.  I ended that post with this line: 

"I know that the rfalconcam community is unique.  It is consist of many wonderful people.  Now its time for us to show Rochester how unique we are."

Well we certainly did show them.

rfalconcam has a chance to win $5,000, here's how:


Rochester Area Community Foundation will award a $5,000 prize to local nonprofits in each of these four categories that attract the most "unique" donors (based on billing address) during ROC the DAY:
•   Arts & Culture
•   Community Benefit and Economic Development
•   Environment
•   Human Services

Rfalconcam is registered in the Environment category.  So if rfalconcam has the highest number of unique donors then the Rochester Area Community Foundation will give us $5,000.  The Environment category has under 50 not-for-profits agencies, compare that to the Human Services which has over 300 agencies and the other categories both have over 100 agencies competing for the $5,000.

Being a unique donor means multiple gifts from one donor with one billing address to one organization can be counted only once.  So this is not about how much one gives or how many times, but how many different people give to rfalconcam. 

I know that the rfalconcam community is unique.  It is consist of many wonderful people.  Now its time for us to show Rochester how unique we are.   If everyone that watches the cameras gave just $5 we could win $5,000!

Payments for ROC the Day can be any major credit or debit card or through a PayPal account.
