I was watching at that time too but didn't see the bird on top of the box...I wondered what got her attention. That's a fairly large falcon as well Definitely not DC from the markings, I know it's dark but it doesn't look like him at all. Maybe it's Fission, looking to see if Beauty has an opening for a male? DC will end up losing one of his sites if another tiercel is still around, happened to both Jack and WW. Wouldn't be the worst thing to happen, at least a new male wouldn't hurt the offspring and she'd have help to protect the territory. I'll be keeping an extra eye out in the early morning now, I am usually up around by 5.30 am and have the cam up but I'm not actually functioning well at that time but I will try to be more diligent now. I think if it was another female, Beauty would have been gone longer. Might also explain DC's lack of presence yesterday for so long and his coming early today. Interesting. Yesterday, DC was on egg duty for a very short period of time - like 5 minutes, when something caught his attention, he started fast chirping and was out. Normally if it was something in the airspace, he'd be kaaking. This was his fast chirp - like B does when there's a falcon intruder. B came back to eggs. I think he returned a short time later. I'll try to find the timeframe in archives. I think you are right. I think there was a floater yesterday which required him to spend his time at TSB. ETA: DC came on duty at 2:31. Something got his attention at 2:36. He left. B returned almost immediately. He then came back in at 4:01pm and looked a little wet or disheveled. If you look at the stills, you can see his head is puffed up.

Hi All. Hope everyone is well and enjoying the season. I have been watching a little, when I can, but also looking at archives and backing up YT. Anyway, I don't see that DC has been on the eggs since yesterday (4/19) at 2:46pm. Has anyone seen him come in today? Around 9AM, B got off the eggs for about 4 minutes, then back on. I was able to back up YT and see it was her leaving and returning. Just concerned. Based on archive pics, it appears the weather really picked up right after DC got off the eggs. Not trying to sound an alarm, but hoping maybe someone has seen something, or has access to a longer video. He just came in at 12:46pm... Whew!

Just opened cam and see she's de-feathering something - I think the blue jay. Then Dad came in with some yellow bird. He has stepped it up today. Maybe it just took him a minute to realize that he's got to deliver, or maybe there were storms or intrusions yesterday. Glad to see more feedings today. When I compare these 4 to B&DC's 3 - I realize 1 less mouth, but they seem much smaller. ETA: I see he has joined her in the igloo and is feeding too!

So glad to see this. I was out running errands and came back to see that there were a few feeds. At least Dad is coming in with food now. If he does lots of small packages, at least they would be getting something vs. nothing.
I don't think poor Betty Ann realizes that there are several very experienced watchers posting. Not in a bad way, just that we've been watching for years.... Quick to recognize when something just isn't right.
And, yes, Cadence is a good Momma. She's a natural this year. She reminds me so much of Beauty.

One kid got most of it it seems, see another with no crop at all..wonder if tiny got any. And Cadence needs to eat herself.
Right.... Obviously, he has no cache or I'm sure she would have brought something in.

My cams are not synched. I didn't see them arrive, but then all of a sudden saw her come into igloo with a tiny bird.
Those little ones are so hungry and you could tell she went in to feed them with a sense of urgency.
They're far too young to go with so little food, the smallest one won't survive if this keeps up. The site keeps defending him but I hope they wake up and realize help may be needed here. Agreed. Honestly, I think this is what was part of the problem last year. He didn't provide. Interested in sitting on eggs, but not on the after hatch care. It's really weird.

I agree Carly. This is like last year. She seems like she's on her own. He was around the kids, picked around the perimeter of the igloo, but didn't seem to respond to their hunger cries. There was someone on cam 3, you could see their shadow, and that's when she came in, checked on them and then was out. She did not act agitated, so I have to think she's out trying to find food. This is just really sad. Hopefully his instincts kick in quickly... ETA: just as I posted this, she came in with a very small meal... At least it is something for them. Hopefully she'll get to eat also.

I'm wondering how old he is. In a way, this reminds me of EC out in San Jose before he lost his site. He sort of just let it go, almost like he was too old and ready for retirement. Maybe this male is on the older side. If I remember correctly, he was slow to bring in food last year and I felt this year, he just wanted to stay in the igloo.
The other thing, he seems to be molting on his head. I thought molt doesn't really start until the kids are fledged and off. I think that is when we see Beauty & DC molt. Or, maybe it's the lead levels that killed the kids last year?
