Last egg was laid September 8, so I think we're looking at a week to a week and a half to go until hatch time.  I do so hope that at least one hatches.  Swift and Beau have had such a rough time of it these last few years. 

Fascinating.  I guess I didn't realize that birds could get cataracts.  And at a fairly young age, too.  I hope Banner does well in his recovery.

This is nothing new. We've been listing to bat songs for nearly 50 years.

Now, how did I guess what this song would be?   

My dog I had when I was a child, a poodle, used to do that as a last resort, when no one in the house would play ball with her.  She'd always beat the ball down the full flight of stairs and catch it on its last bounce, then up she'd go again.

I saw this in the D&C.  Very cool.  This is the first I've heard of this wreck, which is surprising to me for two reasons; first because I've been researching a lot about Lake Ontario shipwrecks for the past 15 years or so, and second because it was relatively recent.  We tend to pay more attention to wrecks in which there was loss of life, though. 

I'd suggest reading the article instead of listening to it if you don't want to hear Bausch & Lomb pronounced incorrectly for the umpteenth time.  Lomb rhymes with calm, not comb.
