I can see some immature feathers on this bird in MAK's photos or I'm imagining it? but I do see brown so she could indeed be Billie.
C&C have a good explanation of molting on their FB page with photos.
As per C&C: First molts for peregrines are incomplete, meaning that they don't have every feathers replaced by the adult gray (which is why you can often see some remaining brown feathers on a young adult peregrine that has only gone through one molt).
I noticed that too, Carly, especially around some of the tips.

This is excellent. Thanks, Kris. It says that a pefa can be sporting adult plumage at 13 months. Billy is about 15 months old now, so that would fit. How wonderful that our watchers have possibly spotted two BANDED females in the past few days. Let's hope they can eventually ID them.

If you're correct, MAK, that would certainly explain her familiarity with ST. I was going to ask if it could be Billy, but I didn't hear any mention of sub-adult coloring. At what age does the juvie/sub-adult coloring start to disappear?

Miss Pigott has been in her nest box doing some house keeping this morning, she's been there for about a half hour now! Yaaaay! SO pleased for this girl! Me too! I'll bet it's a lot easier to do housework at her Syracuse nestbox than it was in Brighton.

Rochester Falcons / Rochester Falcon Discussion / Re: New Aqueduct Mural

I don't think it's been there very long, Donna. Maybe a month or so. It was not there the last time I checked, which was just before Watchers Weekend. I asked two young men who are currently painting a mural on the outside wall of the aqueduct near the Blue Cross Arena if they knew who painted it. They said no, but they thought it had a similar style to "some murals painted in the South Avenue area." I think I know the murals they're referring to. I'll try to look for them this weekend to see if I can find a signature. I am wondering if it may have been done by Sarah Rutherford, as she has painted falcons in murals before, and I know she knows about our falcons. That's just a guess, though.
By the way, they hope to finish their mural by Sunday. It's going to be a portrait of early and current Rochester life on the aqueduct. It's coming together nicely, and I'll bet it will look awesome when it's finished. They are from Syracuse. They know about the Rochester falcons, and they've been watching as they are painting. In fact, they saw the falcons-eagle encounter that Carol, Dana and I saw a week ago Sunday. We talked about Beauty and Dot.ca, but I forgot to tell them about Pigott!

I have often wondered why we haven't had more serious issues with falcons crashing into the Crossroads Building and OCSR. Both are big and have LOTS of reflective glass. Is it their location relative to the sun or to other downtown buildings? Or is it just luck?
