Beauty was on top of cam 1 and DC was under the NE wing for almost two hours, with Beauty whining on and off.  Finally, he flew down and into the nestbox, and then she jumped off the cam and bowed.  A lot different from his first appearance in the nestbox last year! 

And this was a fairly long bonding session, at least by Beauty and Dot.ca's standard.   

And the season begins!

Good news:  After almost 12 years working where I do, I finally moved into my very own office for the first time today!

Bad news:  My office doesn't have a window.

Good news:  My office is right next to the enclosed bridge I showed some of the watchers during last year's Watchers Weekend, where I have great views of the south side of OCSR and the east side of the Times Square Building.  So the workday falcon watch continues!

Four thirty second exposures were done, during which us crazy people out on the Pont Du Rennes Bridge painted the gorge and the falls with light from flashlights.  The cameras were located on the roof of the Genesee Brewery's Brew Pub, where the Rochester falcon watchers celebrated a successful fledge season in the fall of 2013.  RIT arranged with Rochester Gas & Electric to be sure that enough water was flowing through the Court Street dam, and also arranged with CSX Corp. to have a train on the trestle.  Finally, a separate lighting team was sent to Broad Street to paint the Erie Canal aqueduct with light. Note that the Times Square Building's wings are in the shot as well.
