That is correct...Alfreda is M&Ks granddaughter (Diamante's daughter-and Pigott's niece) and Simcoe is M&K's great grandson!

I just went into my family tree and I noticed Simcoe was banded as a female...guess we'll find out the truth in due time!

I just got a banding correction from CPF: This brood was banded very young...Simcoe & Brisk were boys & Solar was a girl. I'll correct the family tree when I have a chance,,,

And Alfreda is Billy's sister.

I got a few pics of Beauty on Mercury today from the 7th floor window of the Aqueduct (Thomson Reuters) Building.  Looks like she had just finished off a good sized meal.

The Big Shot two years ago at Sea Breeze was a lot of fun.  And there were about 1,500 people there!  Of course, that one was in May, not February.

Hey Rochester area falcon watchers, don't forget that RIT's 29th Big Shot will be taken from the Pont Du Rennes Bridge on Sunday, February 9.  I participated in the Big Shot two years ago, and it's a lot of fun.  I can't wait to see the finished photo of the High Falls.  I bet it will be beautiful.

DATE: Sunday February 9, 2014. There is NO RAIN DATE.
- Assemble on the Pont De Rennes bridge – formerly the Platt Street bridge at 6:45pm
- Dress in WARM clothing
- The event should be over at 7:30pm. Attendees will be outside for the entire event
- Participants must bring a hand held light. It can be a flashlight or electronic flash equipment
- Street Parking is available or in the High Falls garage
- The event is free and open to the public
- Public bathrooms will be available either in or adjacent to the High Falls Visitors Center
- Participants will receive a 8.5 x 11 professional memento print of the final photograph courtesy of Nikon

Wow, scary stuff.  And we've been fighting this fight for a long time.  Joni Mitchell wrote "Big Yellow Taxi," the song I use as my signature on this forum, about 45 years ago.  Perhaps the words should be changed to "leave me the birds and the bees and my mind."

I am bereft.  I am a folksinger and part-time musician by avocation, and Pete was a hero to me.  I met him twice, once by chance and once through family connections.  Here's to a life well lived!

Wow, I would say they're excited for the mating season to start!

  Visualizing Hunter still in the area, probably looking for and wondering about Ranger, makes my heart ache for him.  To lose a mate after being so faithful and so persistent for so long must be very hard.  I hope he does not grieve for long.  I am glad he is holding onto his territory, at least for the moment.
