This is from 10:34 AM.  Snowing a bit, don't you think?

2419  Anything Else / Totally OT / Re: 1920s Photo of Subway Construction at Broad & Exchange Streets on: 12-Dec-13, 10:53:49 PM
An interesting thing I noticed in this article is that in the picture of the construction site that would become the Times Square Building, the building next door has a sign on it that says "Times Square Supper Club."  I sure would love to know the story of the "Times Square" name.

Notice there is no Times Square Building in the photo and no Mercury statue.  The Times Square Building was  built in 1929 and Mercury was across the street and out of the picture.  Scroll down for a fine postcard depiction of the brand-spanking new Times Square Building.

I loved that video!  I got to see my first Snowy in a field across from our little airport in Batavia yesterday!
YAY Kris!   clap

Just checked the ROC the Day totals and so far Rfalconcam has raised over $400 in donations.  Great job by those who stayed up to donate during the wee hours of the morning.   thumbsup
Absolutely!  You are stronger people (and probably better sleepers) than I!   thumbsup

Ah, okay.  That's what I was thinking too, but somewhere I heard differently.  Thanks for straightening that out!

Yep, she sure does.  The photo doesn't show her right wing near her shoulder, but the end of her left wing doesn't look too good.

She had some missing tailfeathers, Christiane, but they were from a close encounter with either an air conditioner or heating duct, or some such thing, and not from a storm.  The missing tailfeathers have all grown back.

Thanks Kris.  I guess I'm in the "we may never know for sure" camp, although many things point toward Pigott.  In any case, I love all of our Rochester falcons equally, and wish they could all live happily ever after.  However, that's not nature's way.
2428  Rochester Falcons / Rochester Falcon Discussion / Pigott, Not Pigott, Or Will We Ever Know for Sure on: 09-Dec-13, 09:39:42 AM
The watchers have provided us with some excellent pictures of the epic battle for downtown Rochester on Wednesday and Thursday, and its aftermath.  From the pictures we know that the unidentified female is banded and that she has some notches in her wings, particularly one in the right wing near the shoulder.  We also know that her auricular patch has fairly distinctive heart shapes.

So...Pigott, not Pigott, or we'll never know for sure.  Anyone ready to call it any of these three ways?
