And hey, it's September 20, autumnal equinox time, so you do you know what that means?  It means Orion is three months old!   2thumbsup

I just thought Orion's hatching was hilariously precious.   clap

No hatch yet, but we're right within the time for one.  It's now 9/20 in Australia, and they said the expected hatch is anywhere from 9/19-9/22.  Fingers crossed!

Posting the moment of Orion's birth again, just because it's so precious.  What must Dot.ca have been thinking?  Something like "What the ____?  OMG, OMG, Beauty, where are you???  Come back quickly!!!"  I have never seen his eyes opened SO WIDE.

A beautiful September morning!  FB
Yes, it sure was a gorgeous morning in Rochester yesterday!   clap

No doubt!
3082  Rochester Falcons / Rochester Falcon Discussion / Beauty & Dotca, Watch Out for Bandaloop! on: 18-Sep-12, 12:00:10 AM
Thursday night 9/20 and Saturday late afternoon 9/22 should be interesting for our downtown falcons.  An aerial troup called Bandaloop plans to dance off one of the sides of the HSBC building during those times.  Beauty may want to find some alternate accomodations for Thursday night, as HSBC is pretty close to her nightly roost at Xerox.

Very cool, Ei!  Thanks for posting.  This story reminded me that about 80-90 years ago my grandfather was an elevator operator in the Wilder Building.  My mom used to work in that building too, and I'm right in the neighborhood now in the Aqueduct Building.

MAKfalcon (MAK): Gustov, my spandex bike riding friend just peddled up to me to get an update. I met him on BSB in the beginning of summer. Smiley

Hmmm...I'll have to keep an eye out for Gustov myself.   Wink

Thanks for posting the YouTube link, Donna.  Yes, the version I sing is Mary Black's (from when she was the lead singer with the group De Danann).
3087  Anything Else / Totally OT / Song For Ireland - Beautiful lyrics about falcons on: 14-Sep-12, 02:34:25 PM
In addition to being a pefa fan, I play and sing traditional Irish music.  A few weeks ago I realized that a song I used to sing years ago, called Song for Ireland (by Phil & June Colclough), has some beautiful lyrics about falcons in its first and last verses.  Here are the lyrics to the entire song.

Walking all the day, near tall towers where falcons build their nests
Silver winged they fly, they know the call of freedom in their breasts
Saw black head against the sky
with twisted rocks that run down to the sea

Chorus:

Living on your western shore, saw summer sunsets, asked for more
I stood by your Atlantic sea and sang a song for Ireland

Talking all the day with true friends who try to make you stay
Telling jokes and news, singing songs to pass the night away
Watched the Galway salmon run
like silver dancing darting in the sun

Drinking all the day in old pubs where fiddlers love to play
Someone touched the bow, he played a reel that seemed so grand and gay
Stood on Dingle beach
and cast in wild foam we found Atlantic bass

Dreaming in the night I saw a land where no one had to fight
Waking in your dawn I saw you crying in the morning light
Lying where the falcons fly,
they twist and turn all in your rare blue sky

I'm local to Rochester, but I'm entertaining out of state company (my sister) starting Friday night, so I'll have to flit in and out of the weekend's activities. I hope to show her the nestbox and stop by the brunch and meet everyone, though.
