That was wonderful!  Thank you for sharing it with those of us who can't be there and miss the kids terribly!  So great to see them having fun and thriving!   clap

I went back and looked it up, it was Luna and she was spotted in Ohio by C&C in early September.  I remember at the time watchers there were concerned that no one was seeing the kids after Skye showed up on site so it was a big relief to hear that Luna was sighted.  I have faith in Quest, she wouldn't let anyone hurt her kids.

Would the new male go after the juvies cuz they're not his? Oh, I hope not!!!!  confused

He would not MAK, that's strictly a female thing.  The worst he would do is ignore them.  He's trying to win her over so he's not going to do anything stupid - she'd kick his tail feathers.

Remember the last time she lost a mate, the same thing happened and then a few weeks later we had a reported sighting of one of her kids in the US somewhere.  I can't remember which one it was but it was one of her daughters.

My personal opinion is - the building they nest on is very low.  They likely move out faster to get some height so they can learn to hunt.  You wouldn't be teaching a juvie to stoop off a low rise like that, they'd hit the ground before they picked up any speed.   I expect they get moved out for training regardless of any drama going on around them.

I am sure the kids are safe.  Some days I don't see our 2 at all and then next day they'll come screaming in for food and then 'poof' they are gone again.

I have no doubt Quest is taking care of them.  It's been a month or so since they fledged and it's been stinking hot here lately - I don't see our kids during the day when it's hot either unless they decide to come to nest ledge where the cam is.

Singleton is safe.  He is on the roof top of a building at Bay and Richmond as per last chat with Bruce about 20 minutes ago.

They are both beautiful, very sorry they have vision problems but they are safe and being cared for so that is something to be thankful for.  happy

!!! Singleton, comes to ground
July 08, 2016 - Toronto - Sheraton Centre
Linda Woods Reports:

Singleton took off from his light post roost and came to ground south of the Sheraton. He was picked up by the good folks of First Canadian Place Security. FCP security protocol is to call FLAP for any downed birds.  Kudos to both FLAP and First Canadian Place for their quick response in aiding the young falcon.

FLAP called us and it was determined to transfer Singleton to Toronto Wildlife for a quick assessment and the results are…. he is good to go.

CPF is taking the opportunity to have Singleton banded and officially named and will be returning to the Sheraton tomorrow, July 9th.

Currently, Rhea Mae is on the nest ledge.

Will update tomorrow after Singleton is released back to the ledge.

Peregrine Follies will continue.

Thank you FCP Security, Paloma of Fatal Light  Awareness Program, and Toronto Wildlife Centre, and of course  Harry from CPF Sheraton Peregrine Watch

Possible New Male at Duncan Mill Road
July 04, 2016 - Toronto - Don Mills

Tracy Simpson Reports:

Bruce Massey is at Duncan Mill Road right now with Quest on the Westin Hotel and she is not alone. An adult male has joined her and is perched on the opposite side. Quest is on the E of the Westin sign looking north while he sits and admires her. He is confirmed unbanded by scope view.

!!! McKinney or Mac as he was nick-named has been put-down as a result of his injuries!
June 28, 2016 - Toronto - Don Mills and Eglinton - Amexon

Mark Nash Reports:

June 28th - 2016
We have some terrible news to report about Mac,, the new resident adult male with Quest at the Duncan Mills nest site.

Sadly, we have just received a call from Lisa at the TWC that an adult peregrine with Red tape, banded with a Black Canadian Recovery band W over 78 was just received from the Toronto Animal Services moments ago after being picked up from the streets on Bayview Ave., with multiple bone breaks and fractures along with severe internal trauma. Black W over 78 turns out to be McKinney,, Quests mate!!

Unfortunately Mac, (McKinney) had to be put down, as there was absolutely no way of saving him given the extent of his injuries and internal trauma.

McKinney,, (or Mac as he was nick-named), was produced at the Don Mills and Eglinton nest site at the Amexon building in 2014. Mac re-appeared out of the blue late this season where he replaced the existing resident adult male (Sky) at the Duncan Mills nest site where Quest and Sky were already involved in full time incubation of four fertile eggs.

Incredibly, Mac, assisted Quest with both with her incubation duties of the four eggs, and then adopted the hatchlings and assisted with feeding and raising them as if they were his own!

We were all waiting and closely watching with baited breath to see if Mac would continue on with the role as a father. He proved himself and proceeded to both assist with the feeding of the four hatchlings and then carry on with the other parental duties throughout. He has in fact been flight training the four fledglings as we documented during the fledge watch several weeks ago!!

Sadly, it looks like Quest is now on her own once again to finish the flight training of her four fledglings and to teach them to hunt, (a role that is usually undertaken by the adult male).

We will be watching closely again to see if Quest will be able to keep up with the demands of her four fledglings again this season!

As you may recall, the same thing happened to poor Quest several seasons ago when her long standing mate “Kendal” was found injured and Quest was left to raise her four fledglings on her own for the balance of the season. Kendal was not able to be returned back to the wild given the severity of his injuries.

Quest was successful as a single parent that year, (although two years younger),, but there is no reason to believe that she should have any problems this time, so long as she herself stays out of the traffic and clear of the buildings!!!!

My heart is broken, Viper is dead  crying crying crying

Very sad to report and finding the words isn’t easy, but Viper has died.

She was found on the road, blood on her talons, possibly a tussle with another female, her body is intact, there is a necropsy being done.

No word on what they will do, if anything about the kids if there is a new female.
